Hi Tony i18n SIG still uses translate.openstack.org as a translation platform for the OpenInfra Project. We are working in progress to migrate to weblate translation platform. Hey, We recently got a couple of inquiries in openstack-ansible IRC that folks would love to contribute to translations of Horizon to languages like Arabic, but they can get pass account activation. So I was wondering if account activation still happens and what is the process for that to get new translators onboarded? Thanks in advance.

Need help in making sense of a message in Heat

If it is true, the amount of reserved resources is less than the request or reserved resources were changed." The obscure part for me is "less than the request or reserved resources were changed." [skyline][i18n] Questions on more language translation support

Hi Skyline team and I18n contributors, First, Skyline team, thank you for considering skyline with i18n! As Seongsoo started to talk via skyline IRC channel [1], I see that there are some needs for more language support for the Skyline project. Let me elaborate through the following questions as current I18n SIG lead: 1. Skyline team: While I believe you are welcome to contribute to other languages by adding per-language json files like [2], is it okay to contribute Korean language through Korea User Group members? Me and/or Seongsoo would like to happily step up as reviewers to guarantee sufficient language quality. 2. Any translation interests from other I18n language teams? Feel free to tell me or reply to this thread. 3. While number 1 would be a short-term approach to add Korean language support, to support more international languages, I want to suggest integrating with react-intl if skyline is using react (from my brief investigation, it is yes through [3]), since react-intl support to convert json <-> pot which functionality was previously used by tripleo-ui for i18n support [4]. Although I18n SIG is trying to migrate from Zanata to Weblate, a new translation platform [5], pot support would be essential for standardizing i18n and the translation process. [I18n] Zanata status + call for volunteers on Weblate migration

Hi all, First, thank you all for contributing to OpenStack with globalization by contributing translations, coordinating translations with artifacts, and making sure that those translations are shipped with releases to all over the world (we are calling it I18n - Internationalization). While OpenStack I18n could be healthier with the tremendous help from translators as well as many OpenStack upstream contributors & teams such as infrastructure, release management, and documentation, the current translation platform we are using on https://translate.openstack.org relies on Zanata, an open-source translation platform which upstream activities were stopped [1]. Currently, there are several issues reported - most things have been resolved while it repeats / worses as time goes: - OpenID authentication issues for new registration users on translate.openstack.org [2] - Translation job failure issues since Zanata client did not work with a newer Java / job compatibility issues with Python versions [3] - Missing translation jobs for Xena/Yoga stable versions on Zanata [4] Considering the situation, to solve the root cause of the situation, I am calling for volunteers on Weblate migration. The detailed activities would continue from what the previous I18n PTL already investigated, identified, and documented to [5] [6]. There would be diverse work items with developer perspective as well as translators and operators. Hope that there are many volunteers to move forward. Meanwhile, I updated the "Translations & Priority" part on https://translate.openstack.org homepage. Note that stable versions are minimized to Horizon and dashboard projects, and ping me if there would be lots of translation work especially during R-3 to R-1. Updated OpenID provider for Zanata service

As part of the Open Infrastructure Foundation's move to replace openstackid.org with a new id.openinfra.dev provider, I've switched the configuration for the Zanata deployments on translate.openstack.org and translate-dev.openstack.org, as well as updating everyone's accounts in the database to expect the new provider URL. I've tested my logins and they're still working, but please don't hesitate to let me know if you see any account-related problems you think may be a result of the change. Hi, # I include TC and SIG tags to get broader attractions to this topic. # Also Cc'ed to Ian (i18n SIG char) and Andreas. I would like to ask the status of Xena translation in translate.openstack.org (Zanata). In past releases, stable-XXX branches were created on Zanata, but a branch for Xena translation has not been created yet. Ajaeger usually prepared these branches as a volunteer (I am really appreciated) but AFAIK he no longer works on OpenStack actively. Different meanings of 'retrieve' in django from horizon-stable-wallaby?

Hello, my name is Julie Dronova, I do Russian translations. I have a question regarding possible different meanings of the verb 'retrieve' in horizon's django. Firstly, we have these types of phrases: "Unable to retrieve image format list." "Unable to retrieve volume backup details." "Unable to retrieve hypervisor information." etc in which we have a clear indication of retrieving an information, data. And then we have these types of messages: Unable to retrieve volume backups. Unable to retrieve floating IP pools. Unable to retrieve availability zones. My question is: do these 2nd types of messages also mean 'retrieving of data, info' or do they mean something different? Since in Russian we would need to use two different verbs here. If this is a wrong type of mailing list to ask such questions, kindly direct me to more appropriate one (devs mailing list?). Stop translating non-UI projects for stable branches?

Looking at the work to branch a new release and the amount of translation done on stable branches for the non-ui projects (ceilometer, cinder, nova etc), I propose to translate them *only* on master. So, we would continue to translate on master and stable horizon and friends - and that's all. If there's a specific project that needs translation, we can change that one for sure. This reflects IMHO how translators translate today. Hello, This is to announce that OpenStack Technical Committee finally approved https://review.opendev.org/#/c/721605/ patch which means that I18n team now becomes a SIG (Special Interested Group) team. Note that I18n team stayed as an official team for about recent five years [1], which were really great to deeply involve in reflecting translation artifacts for better internationalization world by tightly interacting with other official teams. Now I feel that lots of detail processes and guidelines are well-defined and now very stable. There can be many next actions, but first of all, I would like to vitalize more communications by calling for volunteers to co-work with this I18n SIG. Feel free to reach me (e.g., e-mail, IRC) if you would like to work together or if you think that your language team seems silent, please also ping me so that I wanna move forward by communicating existing language coordinators or nominating new language coordinators. Ussuri translations started, stopping Stein translations

Hello, I would like to share with I18n team members + OpenStackers who are interested in I18n that there were no PTL nominations for upcoming Victoria release cycle. I am still serving as an appointed PTL since I cannot run for I18n PTL as an election official, but also I honestly tell that my contribution has been decreased due to my personal life (my baby was born ~50 days ago - so busy but really happy as a father).
