Call for participation: Juno translation starts

Hello, all The translation for Juno release has been started. In this release, we focus on the Dashboard translation, i.e. Horizon. If you want your language pack to be shipped with OpenStack Juno, please join the translation work. We especially need translators in the following languages: German, Czech, Polish, Portuguese, Chinese (Taiwan), Dutch, Serbian, Hindi and Russian. The translations of these languages translation have made good progress, only around 800 strings left. If these translations could be finished by Oct. 2nd, these language packs could be included in Juno release. We use Transifex to manage the translation. Comments for translators in Horizon source codes

Hello, all It looks like Horizon developers write many comments in their codes to translators. According to https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/1.7/topics/i18n/translation/#comments-for…, these comments should show up in the po files. Yet I checked English version po files and found no comments there. I think the problem may be caused by the po file generation method. Is there anybody who would like to look into this issue? "sell puppies" and "sold puppies" in Horizon

Hello, all If you are translating Horizon today, you may notice two new strings appeared in "Juno - Horizon translations": "sell puppies" and "sold puppies". Don't worry about the translations of these two strings. They are just for testing. You could translate them as usual or just copy the English version there. Best regards Ying Chun Guo (Daisy)

[nova] new log warning, need string freeze exception

translation member coordination

hi all we have a lot new translator right now, but we still dont have fulltime and yes as the coordinator, i found several people do translation, and i found also several translate horizon, which I am working with training guide and installation guide any idea to know, which area that we should work. sadly, i dont think can release the horizon in on time, because the time deadline. i need to know, the contribution of each member for the openstack and i accidently several translated string, but i dont know it. this is because i visiting and review several guide can help all? F

A release blocking change[1] is adding an exception for a timeout acquiring a connection object from a pool. This string change is meant to help ensure we have clearly communicated the error case. This change has not merged as of the writing of this email but is pending final review. Bringing it to the attention of this list per the wiki [2]. Horizon translation check site

Hi I18N folks, I can have time to setup a new translation check site of Horizon. The URL is unchanged and only the password is changed. http://157.7.133.23:13580/ Username: demo or admin Password: i18n-juno Note that a new machine only has 16GB disk due to VM. Please make sure that only small volume 1~2GB x ~2 can be created. I would like to know who uses the Horizon translation check site in the past and current releases. We have some pending patches here: https://review.openstack.org/121842 https://review.openstack.org/121879 https://review.openstack.org/121913 https://review.openstack.org/121957 https://review.openstack.org/121962 https://review.openstack.org/121972 These patches are *needed* to properly handle the translations in all languages, however if we merge them now you will have some extra strings to re-translate before the release. Please give all your feedback to know if you can handle them in the shortcoming, or if we have to wait before merging. A release blocking change[1] is adding a new exception for handling a case where there are multiple SQL configurations in a multi-domain setup. This is a case where the exception makes sense as there are no current exceptions that cover this specific error in enough detail. Bringing it to the attention of this list per the wiki [2]. This [1] changes an error message that was super generic to have more context and is a problem we were seeing in the gate. Since the Nova PTL was one of the +2s on the change I'm assuming he's OK with the change. Bringing it to the attention of this list per the wiki [2].
