Switch to itstool for docs translation?

Hi all, I've been working on switching the docs translation infrastructure over to itstool. This affects openstack-manuals, operations-guide, and api-site. The current tools are based on xml2po, but they don't call xml2po directly. Instead, they import xml2po and mess around with its internals to get some custom behavior. itstool is designed to handle custom behavior with rules from the W3C Internationalization Tag Set (ITS). You can see the ITS I put together so far here: https://review.openstack.org/#/c/91869/3/os_doc_tools/resources/openstack.i… Using ITS also allows us to do local ITS attributes to override the behavior for specific elements. See a simple example here: https://review.openstack.org/#/c/91872/1/api-quick-start/src/docbkx/api-qui… Most messages in the PO files will be the same. The one big difference will be in how placeholders are done when there's a block-level element inside a block-level element (a practice I discourage anyway). Scheduling a Pootle demonstration

Hi everyone, I work on the OpenStack infrastructure team and we're planning on supporting your team with whichever choice for translations tool you decide upon. There was just a Zanata demo this week, and I've reached out to the Pootle project at Daisy's request to organize a similar demo some time next week. The individual from Pootle who has volunteered to give the demo is in the UTC+1 time zone and has asked for some timing proposals from the team for when we can attend a demo so he can check his schedule and we can settle on a time. Suggestions? Another ending punctuation question

We have a couple of Horizon code reviews that are representing the same translatable string is 2 different ways. https://review.openstack.org/#/c/102897/ and https://review.openstack.org/#/c/88246/ in the horizon/templates/horizon/common/_resource_browser.html part It would be great to get i18n feedback on which way is easier to translate that segment. The v1_1 shell in python-novaclient has a lot of messages marked for translation using the _() function but the v3 shell doesn't, presumably because someone figured out we don't translate the client messages anyway. speed up translation workflow in transifex

Hello, I'm quite new in the translation-team so I have a few question regarding the workflow with transifex. I’ve found a lot of untranslated phrases with only slightly changed text. So to speed up the translation, it is rather easy by simply changing the existing suggestions. To speed up the translation process, is there a way to do a combined searchquery within transifex like the following example? translated: no AND has suggestion: yes AND suggestion rate: > 80% Another problem while doing translations is that I'm sometimes unable to translate it correctly because I'm missing the original context of the phrase. I could open the original documentation in another browser-tab and search manually for the phrase, but that's not really efficient. Any suggestions? Thanx! Carsten
