To language team coordinators: get ready for Mitaka translation

Dear coordinators, Mitaka translation will be started at the beginning of March, and probably ended in the week of March 28. We need to get ourselves ready for Mitaka translation from now on. Because of the join of IBM professional translators, we will be able to cover more projects in our translation plan of this release. Generally, the jobs of existing community translators will not be affected, focus on Horizon, same as before. IBM translators will focus on "other" projects. Before Mitaka translation starts, there are several things you can do: 1. Update glossary. If you don't have glossary translations in i18n repo[1], or you want to update glossary translations, you can send a patch with your translations or your updates to i18n repo directly. 2. Document your local team communication method in the team wiki page[2]. While Mitaka translation starts, it's good to open your local communication channel to all of your language translators. Good communication is quite important for people from different places to work well together. 3. Join IRC channel[3] #openstack-i18n with your zanata ID As a coordinator, you have the responsibility to coordinate your language translations. A good practise is to show up in IRC and have your people to get you easily when they have troubles. If you have any questions, talk to me. My IRC ID is "Daisy" in the channel of #openstack-i18n. [Bug 1608992] [NEW] [api-quick-start] Some old translated pages are still being seen

Public bug reported: Previously, API quick start documentation was xml-based format (with maven build). Since all the API quick start content is written as RST format now, docs.openstack.org/api/quick-start/ url is redirected to current API quick start URL like http://developer.openstack.org/api-guide/quick-start/index.html . I have found some of current problems which can be interpreted as bugs: - Not all translated RST documentation is visible : Although current translation is ~100% in Chinese (zh_CN), http://docs.openstack.org/zh_CN/api/quick-start/content/index.html (xml based) is okay, but http://developer.openstack.org/zh_CN/api-guide/quick-start/ url is not working. - No redirection to rst based documentation : For example, when users enter the previous Japanese API quick-start using docs.openstack.org/ja/api/quick-start/ , the old page is still being seen. Hello, First of all, thanks a lot Akihiro-san for your kind updates (e.g., [1]) on OpenStack I18n Guide [2]. I have just found that some language team Wiki pages in I18nTeam/team [3] still refer to Transifex, which is deprecated and now we use Zanata. Hi team, This is preparation for the Barcelona Design Summit. As of now, I'd like to request 2 spaces for I18n. due date: August 30 - 1 workroom session - 1 contributor meetup Any thought? Note that we should probably require *less* slots than in Austin because the whole Summit event starts on the Tuesday and is only 4 days. - Ops summit on Tuesday morning until 4pm - Cross-project workshops from Tuesday 4pm to Wednesday 4pm - Fishbowl/Workroom sessions from Wednesday 4pm to Friday noon - Contributors meetups on Friday afternoon * Fishbowl sessions (from Wednesday 4pm to Friday noon) Our traditional largish rooms organized in fishbowl style, with advertised session content on the summit schedule for increased external participation. Ideal for when wider feedback is essential. * Workroom sessions (from Wednesday 4pm to Friday noon) Smaller rooms organized in boardroom style, with topic buried in the session description, in an effort to limit attendance and not overcrowd the room. Request for OpenStack Mitaka pii files for IBM documentation translation project with quotes from OpenStack

Hello, I am currently working on an IBM translation project which contains quoted pii strings from OpenStack Mitaka release. In order to be able to use the translated version of those strings I would need the English and German Mitaka files (including Horizon UI). Hi everyone, Working on the Horizon translation in French, I came across these translatable strings and wondered if it makes sense to keep them translatable: * "Material": as in the name of the Horizon theme inspired by Google's Material Design. Anyone wants to have that translatable for their language? As the name of the theme, I'd keep it as is in French. * "10%", "75%": I think I have a first answer with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Percent_sign#Spacing - but are there more differences in some languages? Can we imagine a better way to handle this than having potentially dozens of "xx%" strings to translate? Adrien

Current status of important topics??

Hi all, Newton-2 is approaching. I would like to know the current status of important topics in Newton cycle. IIRC, we have several critical and important topics Kato-san listed. ## Translation check site We spent two cycles already, but it is not yet ready. We need to wait it one more cycle? ## Glossary management I would like to update Japanese glossary with our latest glossary but it is not easy to add several number of new entries to PO file manually. Is there any progress? If we don't plan any change soon, I will import Japanese glossary on Wiki into PO glossary by script (no manual edit). ## Release notes translation Are translated versions published somewhere? Unfortunately I cannot spend time for these efforts as I mentioned before. I hope you have good progress. Akihiro
