Zanata trial starts ! Please register and try.

Hello, team Infra team have set up the Zanata test instance on top of openstack infrastructure. OpenStack projects, together with the translations, in Transifex have been moved to Zanata test instance now. So we could start the Zanata trial now. https://translate-dev.openstack.org/ (it's a self-signed certificate, so you will be presented with a warning, it's ok) 1. Log in You can use your OpenStack ID to log in. If you don't have, register here: https://www.openstack.org/join/register I will suggest to register with your company email, which will help your company to get the credit. If you don't want to, that's OK. :)) When you log in, you will be required to fill in your profile. Then you can start the trial. 2. Join a translation team List all languages by clicking "Languages" on the top. Click your language, you will go to that language page. On the right of the language name, there is a button "^..." which means "more actions". Click on the button and select "Request to Join Team". Then wait for your request to be approved. When it is approved, you will get the email notification. 3. Manage your team member if you are a coordinator If you are assigned a coordinator role, you will be able to see "Add Team Members" in the language page after clicking "^..." (more actions). You can only search users by user id. You can assign a member different roles (translator, reviewer, coordinator) 4. Translate After you have a language team, list the projects by clicking "Projects" on the top. Select a project, select a version, then you can translate. 5. Feedback We hope to get your feedback to the Zanata trial. If you find any resources/translations missed, which is in Transifex but not in Zanata, please let us know. If you find any bugs, please let us know. If you don't know how to operate, please let us know. We use https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/zanata-feedback to track the feedback. Expect the service to be offline while we perform the upgrade. oslo.i18n now support contextual and plural messages

Admin Guide Cloud RST conversion

The Admin Guide Cloud has been converted to RST and the team is doing the final review now. I've created a new resource admin-guide-cloud-rst for translation and synced the existing matching translations over. We will soon remove the old admin-guide-cloud - and afterwards move admin-guide-cloud-rst to admin-guide-cloud. For now I suggest to not touch these guides and wait until we're finished with the final cleanup. Glance needs some fields in JSON files translated.

Hi i18n team, My name is Wayne Okuma. I work with the Glance team and am focused on Glance's Metadata Definition (metadef) Library support. We currently have ~20 metadef JSON files which are loaded into the Glance database. We would like to have some of the fields in the JSON files localized. I'm not clear what the process is for getting the glance.po file uploaded to Transifex. I have a pybabel extractor that can generate a "glance-json.pot" with just the fields I'm interested in localizing and am wondering what the steps would be for me to get it uploaded to Transifex. Also, although I can manually run the extraction routine, is there a way this can be done automatically? Thanks for any information you can provide. Wayne Okuma

Then I realized the IRC channel name #openstack-translation is not really consistent with the project team name "i18n" and the mailing-list name "openstack-i18n". Turkey Horizon translation broken

Hi Turkey language team and I18N whole team, Horizon daily translation import patch [1] detects an translation error that turkey translation has invalid message format string. It is detected in "check-tempest-dsvm-full" job [2], more precisely [3]. It is an expected behavior, but my question is how we should deal with. Is there any defined process? AFAIK we have never had this kind of discussion. Ideally, it is great that Turkey team can take an action soon. On the other hand, we need to have a process as the I18N project because this blocks translations of all languages. Transifex administrators can delete such translations, but I would like to see the consensus. Hi all, I'm just going through old questions on Ask OpenStack, and thought we might have an answer for this one: https://ask.openstack.org/en/question/4346/is-there-a-way-of-passing-the-la… I wanted to know if it is possible to get the localized openstack messages when I make a openstack REST API call? If so how can I pass the language header? Regards, Tom

While we all enjoy a good style discussion, I've also asked Anne (in her role on the TC) to confirm the legal restrictions for us. Watch this space!
