Hi, team We are just before the translation importing, and we haven't gotten a consensus to the importing policy. Let's do a vote then. The vote will be opened for 24 hours. I only open this vote to i18n mail list yet. But I will publish the vote results to public mail list and ask for comments. The result of this vote will be used for Havanna RC1. If we got strong opposition from the public mail list, we still have chance to change it in Havanna RC2 and Havanna offical release. Please let us know your opinion. ------------------------------------------------- 1. Which importing policy do you choose? I will say again either all languages whichever percentage they got completed or 100% translated. But, my vote goes to d.
2. Whether to keep the old translations in Horizon? (There are some old translation po/mo files in Horizon. They are old version. Most of them are not completed. )

Older versions of translations if in the past had become part of any release should be kept.

The old version were be kept in the old release. Is it needed to keep them in the new release? Commonly speaking, the old version were pulled from Transifex in the past. But I don't know if there is a very little possibility that there may be some translations in Github but not in Transifex.

Hi, Question about the second question: are those translations imported into Transifex? If so, answer to question 1 pretty much decides. If not IMHO they should be imported and go under question 1 rules. The second question is only valid (IMO of course) if there's no language coordinator... Hi, Some people here suggested 90%. I want to know what difference does it make if a translation is 85% completed and not got included? The Language co-ordinator works hard to get the required translations gets completed. Why we want to ignore their efforts? I see "language co-ordinator decided" is also good option if many people here prefers that. Thanks, Parag.

1. Language coordinator decided Why: - Some uncompleted translations are more useful in combination with English fallback than others. - A strict percentage *always* leads to discussion. Why 90% and not 85% or 95%? And what if it's 90% and we are at 88%? I recommend having a coordinator that makes an educated judgment and give that person a guideline (e.g. aim for 90%) - Languages with a lot of contributing translators can have a high "translated" and low "reviewed" percentage. This means it could be of poor quality or very inconsistent. I think it's better to force users to use the product in a secondary language that is consistent than their primary language which is inconsistent. An inconsistent Horizon interface can have substantial negative effects on user satisfaction and you only get one chance for a first impression. Again, the coordinator is best suited to judge quality. 2. No Set and announce a date in the near future (e.g. 3 months or so) for removal which allows translators to copy/paste the useful stuff. I expect there is a high correlation per language in completion of old and new translations. No need to keep the old stuff for languages that have already completed the new translation and no use in keeping an old translation that's no where near complete. 2013/9/25 Ying Chun Guo <guoyingc@cn.ibm.com>

"Yes" in general, but **NO** for Havana. This is from the technical reason. During Grizzly translations, several number of fuzzy strings in the source lang is uploaded to Transifex and as a result Transifex was confused and produced wrong translations. I found several number of wrong translations in Japanese (over 20 or 30 strings) when I imported translations for Grizzly point release (2013.1.1 or .2). My opinion: 1. c> language coordinator decided 2. b-No if there is such a technical reason as Akihiro mentioned. I think in the future we should keep Github and Transifex synchronized. Github and transifex can help to save the old translations. Github has the ability to keep old versions. Transifex can save the old translations in Translation memory. Thus we don't need to worry about the possibilities to lost the old translations. Regards Ying Chun Guo (Daisy) Akihiro Motoki <amotoki@gmail.com> wrote on 2013/09/26 00:09:53:
