Some projects (e.g. cinder) have tools..
`cinder-manage db-purge` or maybe it's "db purge" or something along those lines...
It was around Kilo when that got added.

Otherwise, in the past, I've done
mysql backup, then a massive table by table purge of "deleted=1" rows.
