Nothing is lost, it's all in the history for ever.

You can always check out a previous version of the repository, for example:
git checkout 1018c758c43bc392e6a08b89d50f3dd7aa3e5a99

And reference anything there. Also, with the Install Guides, the kilo 
version is still XML and published, so you can even review online.

When we finished conversion of User Guides or Security Guide, we also 
removed the XML files.
