Well, thank you Jay for your service ... and kudos also for the
gentlepersonly way you declared your non-candidacy early in the
nomination period.

The fact there's the longest possible notice that an incumbent
isn't running again may encourage some extra potential first-time
candidates off the bench and make for a more open race :)
