Arabic Script mixed with Gurmukhi Script in Translation Memory
Hi there, As I don't know how this mix up happened so someone please respond to this issue. After the migration has done and i am doing translation in Zanata I am quite surprised to see Arabic script in my Translation Memory of many projects. I have clarified before, and explaining again, that Punjabi has two entirely different scripts i.e. Gurmukhi (ਪੈਂਤੀ) and Shahmukhi (اردو), while former is widely used in Indian side of Punjab aka Eastern Punjab the latter is used in Pakistani side of Punjab aka Western Punjab. I guess while migration someone has mistaken both the scripts as one and joined them. As this is my assumption so it is you guys, will have to help me out. Thanks Amandeep Singh Saini Co-ordinator Punjabi Team (pa-IN)
Amand, I guess it is not because any issues during the migration. If you look into the Punjabi translations of Liberty - Dashboard Translations in Transifex, you will see there are two scripts in the translation. I think the problem happened when we were still using Transifex. Some translators might input the wrong translations. Hi, Aman
So whatever has happened, has happened. Now how can we do the damage control?
While you are translating, if you see the wrong script translation, you could reject it by clicking the reject translation button.[1] After you reject it, the bad translation will be moved from the translation. Gradually, you will have a clean translation.
Another thing is while selecting language codes, we talked about changing pa-IN to pa-Guru. So if it can be done it will be great thing. As it liberates the identity of language from a country and associates it to script which is very beneficial. Please help in this regard by changing the pa-IN to pa-Guru

pa-IN folder and the translations are in develop repositories. If you want to change pa-IN to pa-Guru, following steps need to be executed: #1. Disable the languages of pa-IN, creating a new language pa-Guru. But it will be a completely new language with no translations and no TM. You could manage to initialize the translations by uploading po files. #2. Rename the folder from pa-IN to pa-Guru in develop repositories. If you do want to do that, I could work on the first step now. After Liberty translation, I could help to work on the second step. pa-IN folder and the translations are in develop repositories. If you want to change pa-IN to pa-Guru,
'pa' is default for pa-guru in CLDR project/Unicode [1] is using, Same way wikipeida [2]. So I suggest, pa-IN need to be 'pa' (which will represent Gurmukhi script) and if later pa-Arab (Shahmukhi) need to add, it can be represented with pa-arab (or pa-shah etc). I agree to Alam's suggestion and references. I think we should go ahead with this.
