[Glance] create image by downloading/importing from UI vs. CLI

Hi, The initial issue I saw was "The Store URI was malformed." from Horizon when creating image by URL [1]. It works fine with Glance CLI as the following. ======== glance image-create --container-format bare --disk-format qcow2 --name cirros-test glance image-import --import-method web-download --uri https://download.cirros-cloud.net/0.5.1/cirros-0.5.1-x86_64-disk.img cirros-test ======== When I look into it, I see that UI and CLI work differently, they are handled by different workflow in Glance. Why is that? Why not UI follows the same workflow as CLI? The root cause is that, [1] redirect to [2] and redirect to [3]. One issue here is that, query is not supported in [4]. pieces.query is dropped. When I attached query parameters, I got 403. And that's because, the workflow for UI is checking quota policy when adding location. It needs to get the size of image by HEAD request. But the signature in [3] is for GET request. So that HEAD request is forbidden by S3. I don't think we can get an URL with signature for HEAD request in such case. So I go for an ugly workaround to skip the size check. Any ideas to make it work better? Is quota policy involved in CLI workflow? Again, can we make UI work the same way as CLI? Hello tripleOs o/ I would like to share a proposed schedule for the TripleO meetup at the coming PTG. The proposal is at [1]. First I'd like to give a huge thank you to everybody for taking the time to volunteer and lead those sessions. We are lucky to have folks bringing a wide array of topics including deployment, edge, upgrades, high-availability, ci, storage and networking. The schedule has 5 fourty minute sessions per day (we have 4 hours/day 1300-1700 UTC) with 10 mins breaks between them. If you would like to propose an alternative structure or have suggestions/improvements etc then let's discuss it here. If you want to make changes to your session time please reach out directly to the person running the time slot you wish to change with. If there are no objections then please go ahead and swap the sessions in the schedule (please let me know too). If you can't reach that person or there are any other problems please message me and we will work it out together. Hi Cinder team, I saw in Neutron CI in last few days that all our grenade jobs (multinode if that is important) are failing with error which seems to be related to Cinder. I opened bug [1] for that. Please take a look at it as it seems pretty serious issue because our gate is now broken because of that. Sorry if there is already another bug reported for the same problem and I created duplicate :) If bug is somehow hard to fix or there is nobody who can take a look, I will be also greatful for such info so we can temporary mark those grenade jobs as non-voting to unblock our gate :) Thx a lot in advance for Your help. Hello Cinder folks and fellow travelers, I've updated the official Cinder Wallaby PTG etherpad with discussion topics: https://etherpad.opendev.org/p/wallaby-ptg-cinder It's organized by days to give you a rough idea of what will be discussed when. As always, we will be flexible about moving things around if we have to. Friday has a little bit of slack built in, so I anticipate that we'll be able to discuss everything on the schedule. Please take a look at the schedule as soon as you can to identify the discussions you are leading and let me know right away if you anticipate any conflicts. Info for connecting to the Cinder sessions is on the etherpad. The plan is that we'll have discussions from 1300-1600 UTC Tuesday-Friday, and have optional "hallway time" from 1700-1800 UTC Tuesday-Friday to try to reproduce the useful informal encounters we'd be having at a face-to-face event. (This time is not ideal for APAC developers; we could additionally have "hallway time" from 1200-1300 UTC if there is interest. Let me know.) Don't forget that we decided to have Happy Hour the *first* day of meeting (Tuesday) so that people can get to know each other a bit. Hopefully this will make everyone more comfortable for participating in the discussions. Happy Hour is at 1500 UTC on Tuesday 27 October. [openstack-ansible][osa] Ubuntu based deployments issue

Hi, We have to announce, that due to Ubuntu has removed base images for all non-current point releases (ie 18.04.3) [1], all current or new OSA deployments will fail during base image retrievement process, which is part of the lxc_hosts role (playbook containers-lxc-host.yml which is included in setup-hosts.yml). This mean, that attempt of the new deployment, minor and major upgrade or container re-creation will fail. This won't influence already running containers in any manner. This affects ubuntu 16.04, 18.04 and 20.04 deployments for all OSA releases. At the moment we are actively working on the proper solution to prevent this from happening in the future (or at least minimize risk as much as we can). You can keep track about the progress in bug reports [2] and [3] In the meanwhile there are several workarounds, that you may easily apply locally to make your deployments working: 1. Set proper URL to the relevant Ubuntu images by setting variable `lxc_hosts_container_image_url` in user_variables.yml Relevant URL at the moment are folowing: - Ubuntu 20.04: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-base/releases/20.04/release/ubuntu-base-20… - Ubuntu 18.04: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-base/releases/18.04/release/ubuntu-base-18… - Ubuntu 16.04: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-base/releases/16.04/release/ubuntu-base-16… 2. Use images provided by LXC team. To do this you will need to set `lxc_hosts_container_image_download_legacy: true` in your user_variables.yml Once we will have a reliable solution, we will backport it back to all supported releases and make new OSA release right afterwards. Right after that I will write an update to this notification with information about stable release number that fixes this issue. By now, I'm sure you've sen a lot of emails like these, but I've manually verified that all commits and tags across all branches are correct and proper for * swift, * python-swiftclient, and * liberasurecode following the recent gerrit security incident. PyEClib and swift-bench saw no activity during that time, so had nothing to verify. I'd just like to thank the infra team for their quick response and transparency throughout all of this; the notifications during the incident and final write-up [0] were really top-notch. Greetings, The TripleO CI team has just completed **Unified Sprint 34** (Oct 02 thru Oct 22). The following is a summary of completed work during this sprint cycle: In the last sprint we had two major goals: #1 OpenStack Victoria release preparation and #2 Docker.io removal from upstream CI #1 OpenStack Victoria release preparation Integration and component pipelines have been created and prepared for the stable/victoria branching. Periodic jobs, promotion, configuration and monitoring changes have been merged in order to run victoria pipelines and promote builds. Upstream jobs will be branched in the next sprint. https://hackmd.io/sasvoKjTSkabGlFOTkK_kw #2 Docker.io removal from upstream CI Standalone, multinode, undercloud and upgrade jobs have been converted in consumers of the new content provider job. With this new dependency relation, artifacts are not pulled from external sources like docker.io. VM stuck in hard_reboot state

Dear all, I've been using Openstack (Ubuntu 18.04 install following Openstack documentation) for about a year in a lab at work. I have one VM running 24/7 with Mediawiki on it (rest is for testing). It has been working fine until I updated packages yesterday. I would at least like to be able to save some stuff that's on it (I know, I should have backed it up before the update...). My Google searches on "openstack vm stuck hard reboot" did not help... Keystone with AzureAD as openid provider - JWT token could not be validated

Found this when trying OS_AUTH_TYPE="v3oidcpassword" For anybody using AzureAD as idp in Keystone, it is not OIDC compliant - surprised? keystone will not validate tokens as they are signed for MS graph API essentially it results in "Apache WWW-Authenticate: Bearer error="invalid_token", error_description="JWT token could not be validated" keystone attempts to validate the tokens from the metadata using whatever if finds in https://login.microsoftonline.com/<tenant-guid>/v2.0/.well-known/openid-configuration<https://login.microsoftonline.com/6edb49c1-bf72-4eea-8b3f-a7fd0a25b68c/v2.0…> or using an Apache variable in wsgi-keystone.conf called OIDCOAuthVerifyJwksUri for example - it will reach here https://login.microsoftonline.com/<tenant-guid>/discovery/v2.0/keys<https://login.microsoftonline.com/6edb49c1-bf72-4eea-8b3f-a7fd0a25b68c/disc…> and find keys - however it won't be able to validate the token as MS inserts a nonce before signing them - i.e. the tokens can only be validated by ms graph additionally, if you try to validate the tokens locally on keystone using Apache variable OIDCOAuthVerifyCertFiles the keys can rotate without warning. Hello, I just did an openstack upgrade, from Stein to Train, OS is Ubuntu 18.04. I followed the procedure but I got a warning as return code (1). Hello everyone, first of all, im very new with openstack. Currently i am trying to install my first openstack in a testing System consisting of 6 PCs. But i have some Problems to get it to work. I would be very grateful if someone could help me, to find my Problem. I tried to install Openstack with the Openstack-Ansible Deployment Guide. My Configuration files are: openstack_user_config.yml: http://paste.openstack.org/show/799294/ user_variables.yml : yhttp://paste.openstack.org/show/799295/ But the last Playbook "setup-openstacks" runs on an error. At the Task "os_cinder : Ensure cinder api is available" i get a timeout. It says that HTTP Error 503 and it can not connect to 172.29.236.9:8776 (open-stack-03). There is no port 8776 open on the internal haproxy IP. But the cinder-api.service in the cinder-api container is enabled. And there is even an open Port 8776 in the container. ("ss -tunlp") Does anyone have an idea what I did wrong? Thanks for every answer!

Error installing Horizon

Hi, I installed Horizon on my Openstack Ussuri cloud and it has worked fine for some months. A few days ago, I had some trouble with python packages (I updated some dependencies by error). I'm trying to reinstall Horizon because it fails but it seems almost impposible to me: # apt install openstack-dashboard Configuring openstack-dashboard (3:18.3.2-0ubuntu0.20.04.2) ... Collecting and compressing static assets... WARNING:root:"dashboards" and "default_dashboard" in (local_)settings is DEPRECATED now and may be unsupported in some future release. The preferred way to specify the order of dashboards and the default dashboard is the pluggable dashboard mechanism (in /usr/share/openstack-dashboard/openstack_dashboard/enabled, /usr/share/openstack-dashboard/openstack_dashboard/local/enabled). Hi Neutrinos, Thanks for all of You who proposed some topics for our meeting at the PTG. I prepared agenda for that in etherpad [1]. I didn't specify exact time slots for each topics but just moved things around for specific days. We will move through the list of topics and use as much time for each of them as needed. I hope that will work better than scheduled time slots for topic :) Please review that agenda and ping me if You would like to add/change anything there. There is not much time for that but still I can do some changes :) And as it was during last ptg, we are gonna use meetpad [2] for our meetings. Hello, As every team we are also concerned by the gerrit breach and we must take a look at our changes during this time frame on all our deliverables [1]. The list of deliverables owned by Oslo is very huge, we need a methodical approach and also external help to check all these repositories. Fortunately oslo was in feature freeze during the majority of this period so I think it will reduce the scope of our investigation to our master branches. Due to the criticality of the problem I propose the following action plan: - first, split our deliverables in group and assign volunteer on them - second, focus us on changes against our scripts, executable files and CI config; - third, inspect documentation; - fourth, inspect other kinds of changes that I missed in previous points. I wrote a script [2][3] to help the release team to extract relevant changes (*.py, *.sh), all the rest (*.yaml, *.rst) have been ignored for now, we could adapt this script to lead our investigation. Hi folks, as you are undoubtedly aware, gerrit was down yesterday. There was this email to service-announce [1] with more information about what happened (kudos Julia Kreger who sent [2] where I saw that). There is a list of changes [3] since October 1st that we should audit out of precaution and to be responsible and accountable to our community and users. As you can expect there are a great number of changes. I put a full commit list at [5]. I mined those from [3] - see [4] for info about the 'mining' and even better if someone has time to verify that I didn't miss any repos or commits. Please I need help from all core reviewers. We need to check that the commits in [5] appear valid and correct - remember the concern is for any changes that may have been merged by a compromised account. I propose that we do this via Gerrit and that we leave a comment - 'CHECKED' - on each review that we check? Hopefully we can cover all of these before the end of the week by distributing our efforts. Hi.. I'm looking help to deploy overcloud (openstack train) as per initial req below:- a) 3 controllers b) 5 computes c) 2 bonds (bond0 - all vlan except for tenant , bond1 - for tenant vlan only) *No external storage and dpdk computes for now as trying to deploy these 3 controllers and 5 computes first. I have gone through openstack web, blogs and some other resources and failed to deploy with success. One of my problems is to identify the right templates to use for my setup and config for 2 bonds above. I have struggled to deploy overcloud for a month without success...I really appreciate your help and support to guide me. Please your help and support is much appreciated. packstack unable to handle team devices?

Hi guys I'm trying to add a second node, both nodes have team devices for: CONFIG_NEUTRON_OVN_TUNNEL_IF=team1056 and I get packstack to keep failing: ... Preparing Nova Common entries [ DONE ] Preparing Neutron API entries [ ERROR ] ERROR : "Couldn't detect ipaddress of interface team1056 on node 172.24.154.201" Please check log file /var/tmp/packstack/20201021-230211-9q243gpi/openstack-setup.log for more information .. Is this by design or it's just my case and if the latter then how to troubleshoot/workaround it? many thanks, L
