I for one would love to join forces with people who are already working 
on this stuff. Building a linux distro is not part of the Manila team's 
core mission. That being said, one of the goals of the proposed project 
is to build an extremely compact image -- closer to cirros than a 
typical linux distro. I look forward to learning about diskimage-builder 
and finding out if it's at all suitable for our purposes.
