If OpenStack wants to the define THE standard for open source cloud interfaces, interoperability between multiple OpenStack implementations is key. But it's also been one of the most challenging areas.
At the last OpenStack summit in Barcelona, Jonathan Bryce hosted a live demo of 16 vendors running the same workload on various OpenStack clouds (both private and public) on stage during his keynote. The demo was well received and marked a significant milestone of the community achieving the vision of OpenStack Interoperability. However, a lot more work remains to be done.
In this panel, we will have some community leaders who are deeply involved in interoperability work and large cloud customers/users join the panel and share their views on what we have done as a community in the area of interoperability, the current state of interoperability, the gaps that need to be addressed, and brainstorm on how we can address them in order to reach the next level of OpenStack interoperability.
