I disagree with the characterization 'data leech' you used: I have the
impressions you used those words on purpose to convey your negative
opinion of this sort of features. If you don't like the idea I'd prefer
you state your reasons and have an open conversation instead of trying
to shut it down.

I also think this is a strategic issue that impacts users first,
therefore the User Committee is a good venue to discuss its value. If
the users would find it useful then it can be discussed with developers,
operatos, tc and the board.
