[Product] Adding personas and model companies to user stories

The "enterprise user" can refer to "cloud operator" for some case in the baremetal user story.
We will submit patches to align that with user story persona.
(ps: the baremetal user story was created/merged before the UX persona took place).
On the other hand, in some other use cases, "enterprise user" can refer to an "admin user" (who is not the cloud operator but is not an "application developer" neither).
In large enterprise, the admin who setup/provision physical hosts might not be a "cloud operator" who manage the OpenStack cloud. They are from two separate teams. Do we have this type of persona?

Hi Carol,
We created a matrix where the upstream developers should consider both a model company and persona when designing for users. The rationale is that a persona may not exist or be combined with another persona based on a model company. For example, a company that uses a public cloud may not have cloud operators on staff.
Ianeta is currently updating the OpenStack persona docs to improve the description of the relationship of personas to model companies. It has been clear as mud in the past, so we’re thankful for her help.
To answer your question, “enterprise user” is a bit vague. Is this someone who consumes OpenStack as an app developer within an enterprise? Or something else? I’d need more details to understand whether this persona already exists within the community.
Does this help? If not, please push back on me.

Piet - I'm reviewing the baremetal user story. They reference a "enterprise user". I looked at the personas and didn't see a match. Am I missing something? If not, is it possible to add this persona to the set?
Thanks

We’ve generally used Google Docs to do the initial work and then move to a repo. There are a lot of iterations and a few images.

Instead of a google doc, how about using a repo model for posting/reviewing Personas?

Hi Gerald,
Jeff Calcaterra, Stan Li and I facilitated the creation of the personas by hosting work sessions in Seattle and Austin. A few of the PMs on this list were able to attend and added a huge amount of value.
One approach might be to create a Google doc and have the PWG collaborate on the needed information. At that point, Ianeta may have time to add them to the OpenStack documentation.
Let me know and I’ll set-up the documents.
Thanks,
Piet

Hi,
+1 to using the personas.
Which team is in charge of maintaining the UX personas?
As part of the discussion on Piet's user story draft we have identified we are missing two personas / companies:
- DevOp
- NOC engineer of a Mobile Network Operator
Best regards,
Gerald

Great recommendation Piet. I've submitted a patch to add Personas to the template[1]. We've queued up a discussion next week to communicate the need to update the existing User Stories as well.
Thanks!
