[Openstack] Can not ping the tenant router gateway from host

Hi Mitchell,
just was going through this mailthread.
If I get it right, your gateway IP Address is the 172.29.105.101. It is
configured on the Gateway interface (qg-8aac20dc-60) in the routers
network namespace (qrouter-b69f04d9-910d-472e-8f2c-ac1344c6127f).
You can prove that with executing
> ip netns exec qrouter-b69f04d9-910d-472e-8f2c-ac1344c6127f ip a
Now you executed a ping in this network namespace to the ip adress of
the gateway:
> ip netns exec qrouter-b69f04d9-910d-472e-8f2c-ac1344c6127f ping -I
qg-8aac20dc-60 172.29.105.101
--> With this command you're pinging yourself (localhost).
If you want to ping something from the routers namespace, than it's an
ip address of the guest (via the qr... interface), assuming you have
ping enabled in the guests security groups and rules config. Or an
external server that is also in the 172.x network via the qg interface
But what you want to achieve is to ping your router from your host,
right? This only works if your br-ex has also an ip adress in the
172.29.105.x subnet.
Could you please dump your ip configuration of the host? Does your br-ex
have an IP Adress in the 172.29.x.x network?
> ip a
And can you also please dump your routing table?
> ip route
The alternative from pinging it from your host is to ping from an
external server that is also in this 172.x subnet and attached to the
same physical network as your host is.
Hope that helps
