Guys,
I just did an "apt-get update ; apt-get dist-upgrade" on my IceHouse,
powered by Ubuntu 14.04.1.
The cloud was working smoothly for months, and right after this upgrade, it
becomes impossible to create a Instance. It doesn't leave the "Build" state.
OpenStack needs to handle upgrades in a more consistent way. It is a pain
to do a single upgrade, every time I see a new version, the fear comes.
Can you guys imagine how hard will be to upgrade from IceHouse to Juno?! I
don't know a single person on this Earth that is capable of doing this job.
I'll try, I'll do it but, after days of work, where an "cloud-archive:juno
; apt-get update ; apt-get dist-upgrade" SHOULD be enough, but I hardly
think that it will be that easy, and I have a small cloud (about 20 nodes /
200 instances).
I'm using OpenStack since Essex and I never saw an upgrade that worked
out-of-the-box, without the need to enable debug and losing hours trying to
figure out what's going on after a very small upgrade.
Under admin, I can see all services enabled, all compute services up, all
network agents up but, I'm not able to create instances anymore.
I just double checked all configuration files, dpkg did not touch the files
during the "apt-get dist-upgrade".
All nodes are already upgraded, controller, glance, network and computes...
What can I do?!
Thanks in advance!
Best,
Thiago
