Hi,
I've been working on Swiftacular [1] for a while. It's an Ansible
playbook to deploy OpenStack Swift with Keystone, SSL Termination,
region support, and such, using Vagrant and Virtualbox.
It should support Ubuntu 12.04, 14.04 and RedHat/CentOS 6, and the
default OpenStack packages for those systems, but I have mostly been
testing 14.04 recently. (Need to get automated tests up and running.)
I wrote a blog post [2] that goes over using it to get a Swift install
on Ubuntu Trusty.
It seems a few people have tried out Swiftacular recently, and I had a
bug fixed because of it, so I'm a little more confident with it now.
I'd love to have a few more people try it out, try out the other OSes
and OpenStack versions supported, and let me know of any issues or
ideas.
There's still a lot more work to do [3], but if you wanted a local
virtual machine based multi-host install of Swift to mess around with,
it's one way to get that. :)
Also, thanks to Lorin Hochstein et al for the Ansible OpenStack
modules that make this much easier [4].
Thanks,
Curtis.
