If you are using CentOS I believe they roll optional into the base repository so no action should be required to enable it - python-sphinx is here for example: http://isoredirect.centos.org/centos/6/os/x86_64/Packages/python-sphinx-0.6.6-2.el6.noarch.rpm Check that the system is correctly configured to receive updates from the CentOS repositories.
