you could try to mount it manually to find out what happend. and in the nova-compute.log ,there would be qemu-img and qemu-nbd commands, you shall pay attention to them.
qemu-img create -fqcow2 -o backing-file= /PATH_TO_DISK_FILE
qemu-nbd -c /deb/nbdX /PATH_TO_DISK_FILE

Subject: [Openstack] unable to resize nova instance
hi all:
I want to change flavor of an existing nova instance in horizon web, but nova-compute encounters the following error:

my openstack(havana) is installed in ubuntu 12.04,
root at node1:~# dpkg -l|grep kvm
ii kvm 1:84+dfsg-0ubuntu16+1.0+noroms+0ubuntu14.12 dummy transitional package from kvm to qemu-kvm
ii kvm-ipxe 1.0.0+git-3.55f6c88-0ubuntu1 PXE ROM's for KVM
ii qemu-kvm 1.0+noroms-0ubuntu14.12 Full virtualization on i386 and amd64 hardware
Is it a nova bug, or my configuration error?
Thanks
Liu Wenmao
