First check $nova-manage service list

Is your compute nodes smiling :)

check your scheduler logs, most probably you are getting this error from filter_scheduler, schedule_run_instance() method.

scheduler not able to find valid host.

I haven't deliberately enabled debug mode anywhere but I'm not seeing many logs which are useful. Can anyone assist?
