Hm... on your pty, try:

 > python -c "import os; hdd = os.statvfs(FLAGS.instances_path); print 
hdd.f_frsize * hdd.f_blocks;"

that is exactly how to calculate total disk.
  if you got minus value, something unexpected situation occurs.
