Open Stack

I am working to develop strategies for scientific edge computing. 
OpenStack federation seems like a possible approach. I am interested if 
anyone has experiences they are willing to share regarding setting up a 
federation across HPC clusters/private clouds at different universities 
for execution of scientific workflows.
