I don't think "availability zones" are being deprecated, but I'm not
sure. Cells won't show up in OpenStack until Grizzly, and initial support
for it is experimental.You might want to ask about the future of
availability zones on the main openstack mailing list.
If you don't want to use availability zones, you can also try using host
aggregates:
