Yes. I'll try my best. :)

Compute v2 is the set of original "core" capabilities defined in the API.

Compute v2-ext are the "extra" capabilities defined as extensions, so that
cloud providers could pick and choose which capabilities to deploy. In
practice, the extensions quickly outnumbered the actual "core" capabilities.

Next, enter Compute v2.1 where all capabilities are part of the API.
Version 2.1 is an exact copy of all v2 capabilities, both "core" and
extensions.

Nova developers like the term "microversions" for each of those
capabilities, which is actually an HTTP request definition I suppose.
