The default in my case (Debian 9) is:


root at diskbench:~# cat /sys/block/sda/queue/scheduler
noop deadline [cfq]

And the disk is detected by the kernel as "rotational":

root at diskbench:~# cat /sys/block/sda/queue/rotational
1
