I regret that Dimitry's initial post used a subject which seems to be deepening confusion about OpenDev. Please understand that OpenDev is a project hosting platform and community of collaboration infrastructure sysadmins. What it means for a project to be "part of OpenDev" is that it's a piece of the collaboration infrastructure we're using to support and host open source software projects.
Ironic would not be that, nor do I think that's what Dimitry meant.

I think what he was trying to convey is that he still wants Ironic to be "hosted in OpenDev" (using OpenDev's Gerrit instance for code review, Zuul for project gating, Mailman for mailing lists, and so on, like OpenStack does), and also for Ironic to apply to become an official Open Infrastructure Project represented by the OSF (like OpenStack already is). Not all projects hosted in OpenDev are OSF Open Infrastructure Projects, and not all OSF Open Infrastructure Projects are hosted in OpenDev. Also the vast majority of projects hosted in OpenDev are not "part of OpenDev." We'll navigate this discussion best if we don't conflate these concepts needlessly.
