Hello everyone,
I have discussed with some of you about the fact OpenStack is lacking a
a group interested in sharing the practices for the building/management
of OpenStack application containers.
Every container related project is doing its own way (and it's probably
fine), but very few experiences are shared (and it's sad).
I started an etherpad [1] to see areas where container projects/people
could collaborate. I already received significant feedback on how to
improve some of my practices, so I think it's already a positive
experience for me to have this group started.
Anyway, long story short, I believe we should create a SIG for this, so
I proposed the addition of the containers-sig into governance [2].
We have enough work to started this group nowadays (with documentation,
bindep shared practices, and improvement of projects).
I suppose technologies will evolve over time, so I expect a SIG is the
best tool to do this job of *for example* gathering experience, as it's
not really time bound, and it _is_ a quite special interest.
If you're interested by learning what is going on in the container
building world for OpenStack, please add [containers-sig] to your
openstack-discuss topics watch list.

Jean-Philippe Evrard (evrardjp)
