The recent election for the two open seats on the User Committee had only one nomination, so one seat remains open. The UC decided to hold a second, special election to fill that seat. The nomination period for this special election is now open, and will remain open until August 30 at 05:59 UTC.

If there is more than one candidate, the voting period will begin September 1 at 11:59 UTC, and close on September 4 at 11:59 UTC.

Any individual member of the Foundation who is an Active User Contributor (AUC) can propose their candidacy (except the 4 sitting UC members).

Self-nomination is common; no third party nomination is required. They do so by sending an email to the user-committee at lists.openstack.orgmailing-list, with the subject: “UC candidacy” by August 30, 05:59 UTC. Please note that you must be a subscriber to the user-committee list for your nomination to be posted. Subscribing is free, and can be done on this page [0]. The email can include a description of the candidate platform. The candidacy is then confirmed by one of the election officials, after verification of the electorate status of the candidate.
