I'm not really sure what you're saying about existing interfaces but I 
get the point (and from gibi).

The tipping point for me at this juncture is OSA is hitting problems [1] 
with using extracted placement because of that check so I'm just going 
to kill it as I don't have the energy to rewrite nor maintain it anymore.
