Characterizing the proposed separation as “artificial” seems to be quite political in itself.

Of course there are political factors; it would be naive to think otherwise. That’s why I’d like to get input from those people who are not in the middle of it, and have no political motivation. I’d like this to be a technical discussion, with as little political overtones as possible.
