[openstack-dev] [oslo][devstack][all] ZooKeeper vs etcd for Tooz/DLM

With my operator hat on, I would like to use the etcd backend, as I'm already paying the cost of maintaining etcd clusters as part of Kubernetes. Adding Zookeeper is a lot more work.

Thanks,
Kevin

Subject: [openstack-dev] [oslo][devstack][all] ZooKeeper vs etcd for Tooz/DLM

Folks,

Currently devstack defaults to zookeeper and is opinionated about it.
Talking to Josh, etcd seems to be a good option too.

Does anyone have specific experience with etcd with tooz?
Do we want to make DLM mandatory? (always run with tooz + backend)?

Asking because lots of the container related projects are using etcd
[1], so we may want to avoid both zookeeper and etcd?

Thoughts please. Note that this came up during the Atlanta PTG as well [2]

Thanks,
Dims

PS: the dragonflow one looks really good! [3]
