Welcome to the first release countdown email for the Pike cycle !
Development Focus
-----------------
Teams should be working on specs approval and implementation for
priority features for this cycle.
General Information
-------------------
In case you haven't looked at it yet, you will find the Pike release
schedule at:
https://releases.openstack.org/pike/schedule.html
For things released on a cycle-with-intermediary release model (or
independent model), a quick reminder that generally prefer releases of
libraries and other things with dependencies early in the week, so that
we have plenty of time to fix them in case of breakage. For the same
reasons, we may also postpone processing a release request on a Friday
until the next week.
Stable releases requests will be reviewed by the stable team in addition
to the release team, so there may be additional delays as that team is
short-staffed.
Actions
-------
Release liaisons should add their name and contact information to:
https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/CrossProjectLiaisons#Release_management
New liaisons should familiarize themselves with the release
instructions in the README file in openstack/releases. Follow up
here on the mailing list if you have questions about the expectations
for liaisons for the first milestone.
Some projects have also added their own project-specific deadlines to
the general Pike schedule. If you have something unique, please feel
free to update it by proposing a patch to the openstack/releases
repository (doc/source/pike/schedule.*). There is no need to add a
project-specific deadline that is the same as the global deadline.
Project teams that want to change their release model should do so
before the first milestone, coming up next month on R-20.
Finally, teams should start brainstorming what topics they want to see
covered in cross-community discussions at the Forum at the OpenStack
Summit in Boston in May.
You can find more information about the process in Emilien's recent post
to the ML:

...and links to brainstorming etherpads (or create your own) at:

Upcoming Deadlines & Dates
--------------------------
Pike-1 milestone: April 13 (R-20 week)
Forum at OpenStack Summit in Boston: May 8-11
