I think you may have read my reply wrong. Nothing requires python-
tripleoclient. The Mistral workflow I described above (to update and or
create a Mistral environment) could be called from any tool without
need for python-tripleoclient... so long as that tool can make a REST
API POST request to Mistral.
By calling Mistral API directly in tripleoclient (By simply using
python-mistralclient) in my demo code I was trying to demonstrate how
quickly we could adopt this new code path in our existing tooling. And
that by doing so both our CLI and UI would actually be using a REST API
for common deployment workflow things faster...

Correct. This is what I demoed in a Youtube video back in December. I
call these pure OpenStack action workflows because they would only use
the "shim" actions around the various python clients that Mistral
provides out of the box.

Correct. We may want to modify some of our code a bit so it fits more
nicely into a generic workflow action but in general any python code
should be fairly easy enough to move into tripleo-common and create a
set of Mistral actions, and workflows.
And like I mentioned before Mistral encourages users to create their
own actions. Having our own set of custom actions in tripleo-common is
actually a totally fine thing to do and fits with the project
architecture quite nicely. We just need to use the entry_points to load
them...

What has been proposed it that by doing a combination of #1 and #2
above we don't have to implement #3. The workflows we create can easily
mix and match the stock Mistral actions with custom Mistral actions we
build in tripleo-common. So yeah, skip building our own API, save
ourselves the work and we can simply focus on building workflows for
deployment that can be used via a generic workflow API.
