We stopped running tests under python 2.6 a while back, and I submitted a bunch of patches to projects that still had the python package classifier indicating support for python 2.6. Most of those merged, but quite a few are still open [1]. Please take a look at the list and if you find any for your project merge them before the next milestone tag.
