In fact, he already suggested in this thread in an earlier message[1]. By reading the PCI domain/bus/slot/function fields, we could use some combination of these in the PCI alias to distinguish different network connections. (Some wildcarding support may need to be added.) This might be sufficiently abstract to be not considered as "network information in nova".
