Hmm, just to be sure there isn't a misunderstanding - I think what Dan
was asking for (and what I've felt is missing too) is simply some
indication that stuff is happening.

For it to just sit there outputting nothing for a long time is pretty
disconcerting.

Maybe we're just missing some obvious feature?
