If there is enough demand for infrastructure to support voice (and
optionally video) communication, I would be happy to help set up an
Asterisk server with conferencing enabled for this purpose.  In the
spirit of the rest of our infrastructure, it would be a self-hosted and
open source solution.  For just public conference bridges, it would be
pretty easy to set up.
