Hi Folks,

We've been thinking that the Synaps and Ceilometer projects
should join forces, given that Ceilometer is concerned with all
things measurement-related for OpenStack, with a particular focus
on the user-oriented aspects (i.e. metering and monitoring the
user-view of cloud resources) for the grizzly release cycle.

The Synaps project[1] has produced a CloudWatch-style implementation
for OpenStack, with a Cassandra-based metric store, designed from
the ground up to be highly scalable.

In Ceilometer we've been working recently on a multi-publish
blueprint[2], which will provide the initial integration point for
measurements taken by the Ceilometer compute agent to be published
via the CloudWatch public API.

So the missions of the two projects dovetail nicely.

The Heat project also has a rudimentary CloudWatch implementation[3],
but the main contributor to that would be happy to re-focus their
efforts on a more general-purpose solution.

Let's have a detailed discussion about the technicalities of managing
the two codebases, issue tracking, task prioritization etc.

But for now, I'd like to welcome the Synaps contributors into the fold :)

Cheers,
Eoghan
