Hi- The Icehouse release schedule has been finalized this afternoon and it looks like Icehouse will release on April 17th. With that, I think we can plan on the proposed release schedule for stable/havana: 2013.2.1 Dec 2 2013.2.2 Feb 6 2013.2.3 Apr 3 2013.2.4 TBD after Icehouse release That leaves 2 weeks between the 2013.2.3 release and Havana. This gives us a bit more room to deal with any release period craziness and should hopefully avoid the chance of a delay causing the point release to drop on the same day as Icehouse. Thoughts? I've updated the wiki [1] with these dates. We also have one more pending stable/grizzly release (2013.1.5) that we left with a TBD release date. Now that H is out, when should we release? I propose scheduling it somewhere around the release of the first stable/havana cut, either one week prior or one week after? In terms of scheduling of release duties, I think the pattern we followed last cycle worked well. There were no volunteers stepping up during the design summit to help for stable/havana, so it looks like its between Alan and myself. I propose one of us take on the first stable/havana release while the other takes care of the final stable/grizzly release. Alan, which would you like? Other notes and TODOs captured on the summit etherpad [2] Thanks, Adam [1] https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/StableBranchRelease [2] https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/stable-havana-ideas
Hi,
2013.2.1 Dec 2 2013.2.2 Feb 6
Those dates look good.
2013.2.3 Apr 3
I'm having second thoughts about .3: April still puts it into Icehouse RC period. What do you think about moving .3 to mid-March, before Icehouse wrap-up season starts?
We also have one more pending stable/grizzly release (2013.1.5) that we left with a TBD release date. Now that H is out, when should we release? I propose scheduling it somewhere around the release of the first stable/havana cut, either one week prior or one week after?
Will there be enough grizzly fixes to justify the release? At stable design session, it was mentioned to leave those last stable releases for EOL event but I didn't catch what was thinking about that idea?
Alan, which would you like?
I'll take Dec 2 then we alternate. Cheers, Alan

Note that the Icehouse milestones hit at December 5, January 23 and March 6. Could make sense to push 2013.2.1 to the week before/after so that you don't suffer from icehouse-1 proximity.

Sounds good, slight preference for week before. -- Thierry Carrez (ttx)

Good point, I'll move 2013.2.1 to December 12 (Dec 2 was a typo, meant was Dec 5 since we're releasing on Thursdays)

With 2013.2.1 on Dec 12, that would be Dec 5 which is icehouse-1. What happened to the idea to leave 2013.1.5 for Grizzly EOL? Cheers, Alan

For previous EOLs we let the branches die a peaceful and non-advertised death, to avoid waking up trolls. I'm fine with either, though: do it on December 19 (one week after 2013.2.1), or keep it for EOL... your call. -- Thierry Carrez (ttx)

Dec 19 would be tough, also I don't think we'll get enough testing attention in that period. I propose to schedule it later, but not exactly at EOL to avoid trolls. Mid-March 2014 after Icehouse feature freeze looks like a good time to wrap-up stable/grizzly and push this final Grizzly stable release. Cheers, Alan
