Hey I've been struggling to stay on top of stable/folsom stuff lately so Alan is going to help out with the next release with a view taking responsibility for future releases. 2012.2.4 is due for release on 2013-04-11, so we'd like a release candidate on 2013-04-04. That gives us two weeks to prepare. This will likely be the last release in the 2012.2.x series. There are notes on the release process here: https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/StableBranchRelease The first thing I do is make sure all of the currently fixed bugs are added to the folsom series and targeted to the next release. There are 47 bugs currently fixed, and I've listed them all here: https://gist.github.com/markmc/5202793 I also make sure the assignee and priority fields are correct so the final release page is nice and pretty e.g. https://launchpad.net/nova/folsom/2012.2.3 Finally, I go through the folsom-backport-potential and in-stable-folsom tags and remove them from bugs which don't need them anymore. It's actually not too bad to do all this by hand, but maybe it's a good opportunity to improve our scripts: https://github.com/markmc/openstack-lp-scripts https://github.com/ttx/openstack-releasing In order to add bugs to the folsom, you need to be a member of the openstack-release team so I'll ask ttx to do that. Beyond bugs, we also need to get a handle on outstanding reviews. Currently, there are 37 open reviews. Thanks, Mark.

So, we're still hoping to do the RC this week but there's a lot of reviews outstanding. Please do jump in and help clear the queue: https://review.openstack.org/#/q/status:open+branch:stable/folsom,n,z Thanks, Mark.

For last-minute fun, looks like gate is blocked on getting at least updated glanceclient and quantumclient on pypi: http://logs.openstack.org/23996/4/gate/gate-tempest-devstack-vm-smoke/403/co... error: Installed distribution prettytable 0.7.1 conflicts with requirement prettytable>=0.6,<0.7 Fixed in https://github.com/openstack/python-glanceclient/commit/31960f0a8584802852d9... https://github.com/openstack/python-quantumclient/commit/714ade07ac4d1ac0cdf... I've asked on #openstack-dev owners to push new releases to pypi which should unblock this. Cheers, Alan

python-quantumclient 2.2.1 published in the meantime, thanks to markmcclain Also last novaclient 2.12.0 missed its prettytable fix too https://github.com/openstack/python-novaclient/commit/54d4b1d355bd8be9ac358e... Cheers, Alan

Thanks Vish! In the meantime, fix was applied to devstack which avoids pulling clients from pypi https://review.openstack.org/#/c/25976/ reported as https://bugs.launchpad.net/devstack/+bug/1163631 All clear for pushing remaining stable/folsom reviews today. Cheers, Alan

Current status is: * Keystone https://review.openstack.org/#/c/23842/ missing 2nd +2 but it's controversial and might be dropped, Joe? * Nova https://review.openstack.org/#/c/25640/ https://review.openstack.org/#/c/25641/ missing 2nd +2 I don't feel confident enough in Nova exception handling to approve this, so I'd like to see someone from Nova to chime in - Vish, Padraig? * Cinder - bunch of backports missing +2s https://review.openstack.org/#/q/status:open+project:openstack/cinder+branch... https://review.openstack.org/#/c/23914/ John, can you now remove -2 ? It is needed by https://review.openstack.org/#/c/24170/ https://review.openstack.org/#/c/25508/ This one is controversial as it's a feature backport, can someone from Cinder team chime in? Considering the review backlog, freeze on stable/folsom will be delayed to tomorrow morning to give us time to review what we can. Please take some time to look at outstanding stable reviews today! Cheers, Alan
Hi, looks like we're good to go except for Cinder: https://review.openstack.org/#/q/status:open+project:openstack/cinder+branch... Mark, what about cutting 2012.2.4 RC now but leaving Cinder under soft-freeze, i.e. get those last-minute backports reviewed properly? Some of them I had a look at seem to be squashed from multiple master comments which should be backported separately IMHO, keeping Change-Ids as per stable guidelines https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/StableBranch Cheers, Alan

Sounds good to me

I'm working through them, but yeah - they're outstanding examples of good backports :) Cheers, Mark.
