Hello everyone, The OpenStack Stable Maintenance team is happy to announce the release of the 2013.2.4 stable Havana. We have been busy reviewing and accepting backported bugfixes to the stable/havana branches according to the criteria set at: https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/StableBranch A total of 180 bugs have been fixed across all projects since 2013.2.3. These updates to Havana are intended to be low risk with no intentional regressions or API changes. Just wanted to provide a heads up that this Gerrit bug was brought to the attention of the Infra team yesterday: http://code.google.com/p/gerrit/issues/detail?id=1107 In short, be on the lookout for any backport change which is actually the same Git SHA as on the master branch (probably the most obvious sign will be lack of a cherry-pick header in the commit message, since changes to the commit message also change the Git SHA). Currently Gerrit won't protect us from someone proposing a change from one branch to another if the parent commit of that change is already in the former branch, even though it's not (yet) in the latter. -- Jeremy Stanley

Hi all, as planned[1] stable-maint team is going to prepare the final stable Havana release 2013.2.4, now that Juno-3 was released. Proposed release date is Sep 18, with the code freeze on stable/havana branches week before on Sep 11. Stable-maint members: please review open backports [2] taking into account the fact this is the final release. Potentially risky changes should be reviewed very closely since there won't be another release to fix possible regressions. Havana freeze exception request

Hi guys, I have a request for a small Havana release expection: https://review.openstack.org/#/c/117144/ It’s just adding the Hyper-V compute driver name in the CONF.compute_driver option description, along with the shortened class path, matchig what has been done for other drivers: “hyperv.HyperVDriver”. Neutron Havana gate failure

There is a bug [3] for the failure that is resolved as Won't Fix. This failure blocks merges in the branch, so I propose to skip the test in the gate to allow remaining bits to enter the last release tomorrow. I've added that skip to my patch [2]. Any objections? This email can also be considered as an exception request for my patch [2]. The issue that it fixes was observed in production. The issue is that some ports may be missed from updates (not VLAN tagged) if they temporarily disappear from the integration bridge. This results in no network connectivity for instances bound to those ports. Though my observations show that there is some oral tradition around community on how we handle those review, as follows: 1. For master oslo-incubator sync requests, we tend to sync the whole modules or even all the modules that a project uses (unless some specific obstacles to do so). This is to use the latest and greatest code from Oslo subproject, fetch all possible bug fixes and goodies, and make the synchronized copy of it as similar to upstream (=oslo-incubator) as possible. 2. For stable branches, the process is a bit different. For those branches, we don't generally want to introduce changes that are not related to specific issues in a project. So in case of backports, we tend to do per-patch consideration when synchronizing from incubator. 3. Backporting for stable branches is a bit complicated process. When reviewing synchronization requests for those branches, we should not only check that the code is present in all consequent branches of the appropriate project (f.e. for Havana, in both Juno and Icehouse), but also that the patches being synchronized were successfully backported to corresponding stable branches of oslo-incubator. So the usual way of oslo-incubator bug fix is (in case of e.g. Neutron): oslo-incubator (master) -> neutron (master) -> oslo-incubator (stable/icehouse) -> neutron (stable/icehouse). [For Havana, it's even more complicated, introducing more elements in the backporting chain.] I hope I've described the existing oral tradition correctly.
