Hi localization team, I am interested to localize OpenStack into my language. Currently Lao localization team is not available on OpenStack yet. I want to open it and start translate. Please suggest me how to localize OpenStack. Thank you. Best regards, Saikeo Network and System Engineer IT Dept., APB Laos [ccna_routerswitching_sm][jn_certified_associate_rgb]
Hello Saikeo, First of all, a little bit sorry for late reply. Since I have little background on Lao language, I would like to first kindly ask whether we can just use "lo-LA" language code for Lao (Laos) or not. Or just "lo" language code is better? Currently I am not familiar with how I change our system to support Lao, but I would like to find ways for this issue if there will be no problem on our system. With many thanks, /Ian Saikeo Kavhanxay wrote on 9/11/2016 6:34 PM:

Sa Baiy Dee Ian, In other localization project such as GNOME and Mozilla we use "lo" for Lao language code. I think use "lo" is better one. Thank you. Hello Saikeo, Thank you for your remainder. I am currently keeping this issue into my to-do list. IMO we need to discuss in I18n IRC meeting: http://eavesdrop.openstack.org/#I18N_Team_Meeting because frankly speaking I am not too much familiar how I can create Lao language in Zanata and so on. And since I18n IRC meeting schedule is now being considered to be changed, I will announce it later. Then on I18n IRC meeting, I would like to hear all opinions and find ways to add Lao language in translation infrastructure. With many thanks, /Ian Saikeo Kavhanxay wrote on 9/26/2016 1:05 PM:

To create a language team, you can do it from the "language" tab on Zanata.
And since I18n IRC meeting schedule is now being considered to be changed, I will announce it later. Then on I18n IRC meeting, I would like to hear all opinions and find ways to add Lao language in translation infrastructure.
As far as I know, if the language is supported by general gettext, infrastructure itself does not have any special constraint. And, "lo" Lao is supported. If I remember correctly, however, we need to take care that Horizon uses Django which supports small-set languages.
With many thanks,
/Ian

After the i18n repository was created, I continue to write documentation to share our knowledge. I believe it is time to have the admin guide in our i18n guide. It can include Zanata admin guide and/or what we need to do around release (branch cut or something). All we discussed recently in the mailing list are good candidates for contents of the admin guide section. Akihiro 2016-09-26 13:35 GMT+09:00 Ian Y. Choi <ianyrchoi@gmail.com>:
