Japanese Translations publishing?
Looking at the great work the Japanese team is doing, I wonder why the High Availability and Security Guides are not published on docs.openstack.org. Should I make the changes for these documents? Any other documents I should publish? Note we do not need to add links to these manuals, we can just publish them as is and see that everything looks fine. Hi Andreas, Thanks for taking care of it. Japanese translations of security guide is under review by Japanese community. The first round of translations completed but it still needs reviews. Regarding HA guide, the translation completed but AFAIK there is no review. Review resources are another hurdle to publish translated document. I am not sure which is better we publish documentation once it is completed or publish only documents after review. In my experience minimum reviews are required to keep documents healthy. Keeping translation up-to-date by volunteers is a tough work in a rapid growing project like OpenStack and I am not confident it works. We completed Operations Guide a year ago and I am sometimes catching up with it but the recent many updates breaks me and I lost a chance to publish the updated version. We could publish it on the server - but without linking to it. That gives your team the chance to easily see the built manual and review it this way. Once it has been reviewed, we can link to it. Is that something you like to give a try?

I agree.

Yeah, it's now fallen behind, too many changes have happened, Andreas

That sounds nice. I would like to try it. What do I need to do for it? At now, I setup cron script to generate translated documents for review on GitHub Pages (It was done by my one hour work :)) However the OpenStack infra-level support is much better. I believe it must minimize efforts of all languages. Akihiro

I still wonder if we could use docs-draft for that, my patches got lost in limbo unfortunately (or maybe I didn't have the right idea to handle that) Just as a reminder if any team wishes some resources to have drafts published early or often - docs.przytuloc.pl still works (well, sort of - I have to fix the builds after the .tx removal it seems) Have a nice day, -- Łukasz [DeeJay1] Jernaś

.tx is back for openstack-manuals and should work just fine since I fixed it this morning - please double check, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger aj@{suse.com,opensuse.org} Twitter/Identica: jaegerandi SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GF: Jeff Hawn,Jennifer Guild,Felix Imendörffer,HRB16746 (AG Nürnberg) GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126
Thanks Andreas, I reviewed your patch, though the one is already merged :-) We need to install appropriate font packages to Jenkins slaves. I just proposed a patch to make sure Japanese fonts installed on slaves. https://review.openstack.org/#/c/83979/ It is based on my comment to Lukasz's (deejay1) patch. Lukasz, thanks for your initial work. On Sun, Mar 30, 2014 at 3:17 AM, Andreas Jaeger <aj@suse.com> wrote:

Thanks Andreas for your work. A patch to install Japanese fonts [1] are not merged yet, so we should have unreadable PDF but HTML conversion should work. Japanese team needs to investigate the cause of the failure in HA guide. I don't have enough time in the next couple of days including this weekend. Kato-san, Yoshiyama-san, do you have time to take a look? [1] https://review.openstack.org/#/c/84149/ On Wed, Apr 16, 2014 at 2:44 AM, Andreas Jaeger <aj@suse.com> wrote:
