Closing Liberty translations?
Since Mitaka translations start next week, I propose we close the Liberty translations now as discussed last autumn. How should we do this? Is there a need to keep the liberty branches for some time as read-only? Or should we delete them directly? If we delete them, translation memory and translators contribution statistic data will be affected. So I don't support deleting. I think we mark them as read only. If no objections, we can do it by the end of this week. Best regards Ying Chun Guo (Daisy) Andreas Jaeger <aj@suse.com> wrote on 2016/02/24 16:16:37:

+1 to read-only. Is this all resources? program components only? documentation? I think install guides for Liberty is still useful, and should translate for many languages as possible. Therefore, I'd like to open openstack-manuals. Regards, KATO Tomoyuki

I was thinking both - but we can adjust.

Yes, sure.

New translations should be done for Mitaka IMHO.
Therefore, I'd like to open openstack-manuals.
Is there a team that wants to continue working on the Liberty Install Guide? And how long should we open that one up if we do? Andreas

I also agree with "+1 read-only". IMO we can remain the liberty translation branch as stable/liberty branch in openstack-manuals exist. I prefer the same life cycle as other OpenStack projects :) With many thanks, /Ian SungJin Kang wrote on 2/24/2016 8:33 PM:

I am okay with closing Liberty translation. For openstack-manuals translations, as katomo mentions, it makes sense to keep it open for a while. However, I am not sure what is the main motivation to close Liberty translations now and we do not keep them open until corresponding stable branches are removed. I cannot remember the exact reason. I am not sure how much manual maintenance are required now and if we manage Zanata versions it is a good reason to close Liberty translations now. Thanks, Akihiro 2016-02-24 17:16 GMT+09:00 Andreas Jaeger <aj@suse.com>:

For me it's a question of focus. IMO we're soon concentrating on mitaka, so let's not distract ourselves with additional work - or confuse translators with many options. Also, once mitaka is out, the branches get frozen further, the stable team did not sign up for importing translations for ever. Btw. we already have few translations coming in - but still have jobs that run every day on liberty and after each change.
