Can we release the i18n team meeting slot?
Hi, The I18n team books a team meeting slot [1] but we don't have meetings since Jul 2019 [2]. Would we like to keep the slot or can we release it? In addition, we can update our document page on the meeting [3]. Thought? Akihiro: Thank you for poking this. Do you think the meeting is needed? Any topic would you like to bring now? Hello all I18n team members, I will wait more on demands, but if there is no demand, I will propose a patch to change the description like: "Any OpenStack member can request a I18n team meeting. Feel free to bring your topic and tell I18n SIG lead or team members on IRC channel so that we have a meeting up on request" With many thanks, /Ian On Thu, Feb 4, 2021 at 9:18 AM Akihiro Motoki <amotoki@gmail.com> wrote:

IMHO I see no need for the meeting and have no topic for the meeting. I just noticed it just when I checked the i18n document for other purposes and I was surprised. It is confusing if a meeting which is not held is listed in the meeting list. I also remembered that someone asked if there is a meeting in the IRC channel several months ago. It was asked around the meeting time, so I guess he/she came the channel but nobody else was there. It is not a good situation and I think it is time to drop the regular meeting schedule explicitly.
Hello all I18n team members,

My main point is to drop the meeting slot from OpenStack meeting schedule. The i18n SIG reserves a slot but it is not used. While the slot reserved by the i18n SIG is not crowded, it waste a public resource. I am not sure what is your proposal. Does it mean you continue to reserve the meeting slot? Even if the i18n SIG does not reserve the meeting slot, we can have a meeting on demand in the openstack-i18n IRC channel as the meetbot supports meetings in any IRC channel. Thanks, Akihiro Motoki (irc: amotoki)
With many thanks,

Hi, I don't think just deleting the meeting slots due to resource constraint is not an optimal solution. Although there have been no meetings, I think we need to stay with visibility. I know the meeting slots are public resources while it definitely seems that other SIG/teams also occupy unused resources. I believe they are not overloaded (e.g., contributing huge network traffic). I think this would be rather low-priority. Three approaches I can think before I18n SIG does a next action regarding a team meeting slot: 1. moving (bi-)weekly rhythm to (bi-)monthly / quarterly 2. Re-thinking meeting rhythm considering release schedule (e.g., before soft-freeze / hard-freeze) 3. For status update purpose (e.g., #startmeeting, #topic, #action, #endmeeting) regardless of quorum Love to listen to more thought, and always feel free to ping me through IRC if urgent.. thanks!
