Quick update. According to the meeting log of Horizon meeting today, Horizon RC1 will be planned this week or at latest Monday of the next week.
This means RC1 is cut at latest Apr 13, so the deadline of around Apr 20 seems to work. I hope this help you.
Akihiro
We don't have the exact date now.
From my past experience, the deep string freeze happens when RC1 is released and the development for the next release is open. After that there will be a little number of string changes because the backport criteria becomes higher. I am not sure the exact date of RC1, but it will be the late this week or next week. Horizon team promised RC2 for translations and the exact date will be discussed after RC1 is cut. This is the decision in Horizon meeting a month ago and I wonder why the same question comes again.
We received questions on string freeze, so it seems the time for

to update the definition of string freeze as the release process.
Thanks, Akihiro
I hope someone else coordinates the date in the next release. I am a bit tired of coordinating such things.

@Akihiro, could you help to clarify the time lines of Horizon kilo translation? I'm not clear of the specific date either.
When is the string freeze date of Horizon ? When is the last date to finish translations ?
Best regards Ying Chun Guo (Daisy)

Hi Ying Chun Guo,
On Wednesday 08 April 2015, 11:32:33 Ying Chun Guo <guoyingc@cn.ibm.com> wrote (shortened):
Horizon/kilo is not "string freeze" when we started translating. Horizon is the web user interface. It's hard to complete "string freeze" while they are working on bug fixing. So their planned string freeze day is RC1, the first release
candidate,
not the usually string freeze/feature freeze date. And RC2 would be only for translation.
There won't be many changes. We might need to keep an eye on the changes.
Indeed, thanks for the clarification. I was told the deadline for translations should be April 20 which I assume is not correct then. I've not seen some better statement on openstack-dev, while Heat and Keystone has been made RC1 yesterday. Would you by any chance know the time line for Horizon, IOW when to expect the RCs?
