Inquiry regarding Administration permissions and Manager role scope (openstack.weblate.cloud)
by Seongsoo Cho 06 Oct '26

Hi Weblate Support Team, I am reaching out regarding administrative permission settings for our OpenStack Weblate instance (openstack.weblate.cloud). Currently, user accounts in the 'Managers' team have been granted the 'Administration' permission. However, we are encountering permission limitations when attempting certain administrative actions: 1. Project Creation Issue: Despite having 'Administration' permission under the 'Managers' team, users were unable to create new projects. Project creation only became possible after explicitly adding the 'Add new projects' permission to the 'Project creators' team. 2. Language Management Issue: When attempting to modify language settings with 'Administration' permission under the 'Managers' team, we encounter the following permission denied error: {"code":"permission_denied","detail":"Can not manage languages"} Given that the 'Administration' permission is assigned to the 'Managers' team, we would like to clarify the following: - Why are these specific administrative capabilities (project creation and language management) not fully granted under the 'Administration' permission for the 'Managers' team? - Short of granting full Superuser access, what specific set of roles or permissions should be assigned to allow standard site administrators to properly configure projects, languages, and settings? Thank you for your guidance and support. Best regards, Seongsoo Cho
