Call for Papers Containers and virtualization technologies constitute key enabling factors for flexible resource management in modern data centers, and particularly in cloud environments. Cloud providers need to manage complex infrastructures in a seamless fashion to support the highly dynamic and heterogeneous workloads and hosted applications customers deploy. Similarly, HPC environments have been increasingly adopting techniques that enable flexible management of vast computing and networking resources, close to marginal provisioning cost, which is unprecedented in the history of scientific and commercial computing. Various virtualization-containerization technologies contribute to the overall picture in different ways: machine virtualization, with its capability to enable consolidation of multiple underutilized servers with heterogeneous software and operating systems (OSes), and its capability to live-migrate a fully operating virtual machine (VM) with a very short downtime, enables novel and dynamic ways to manage physical servers; OS-level virtualization (i.e., containerization), with its capability to isolate multiple user-space environments and to allow for their co-existence within the same OS kernel, promises to provide many of the advantages of machine virtualization with high levels of responsiveness and performance; lastly, unikernels provide for manyvirtualization benefits with a minimized OS/library surface. I/O virtualization, in turn, allows physical network interfaces to exchange traffic with multiple VMs or containers; network virtualization, with its capability to create logical network overlays independently from the underlying physical topology, is another fundamental enabling technology for Cloud/HPC infrastructures. Last, storage virtualization needs to evolve to support increasingly demanding requirements in terms of performance and reliability for the managed application data. Publication Accepted papers will be published in a Springer LNCS proceedings volume. Topics of Interest The VHPC program committee solicits original, high-quality submissions related to virtualization across the entire software stack with a special focus on the intersection of HPC, containers/ virtualization and cloud computing. Edge computing is a recent paradigm that brings processing and storage resources closer to the user. As a result, it provides benefits such as low latency and high bandwidth while still providing the benefits of cloud computing, making it lucrative for low-latency, real-time / safety-critical applications. However, a higher degree of determinism is desired for cloud and edge technologies to be fully embraced by the real-time / safety-critical industry. This calls for new techniques and methodologies to design predictable and reliable cloud/edge technologies and applications. The 3rd International Workshop on Real-Time Cloud Systems (RT-Cloud) aims to bring together industrial and academic researchers and become a forum for discussing topics (including ideas, open and upcoming challenges, use cases, initiatives, calls to action, and projects, regulations and standards, future research directions, etc.) related to real-time cloud/ edge/fog computing and virtualization techniques. This year, the workshop will have a focus on industrial cloud use cases. The workshop also welcomes short and full papers that consider: - New technologies, innovative approaches/ideas, including work-in-progress - Open problems and upcoming challenges - Regulations and standards - Demos and tutorials, especially, for open-source projects - Call to actions - Experimental reports on existing technologies, including negative ones Original full and short papers on all aspects of real-time/safety-critical cloud/edge/fog and virtualization are welcome. The Workshop on Virtualization in High-Performance Cloud Computing (VHPC<https://vhpc.org>) aims to bring together researchers and industrial practitioners facing the challenges posed by virtualization in HPC/Cloud scenarios in order to foster discussion, collaboration, mutual exchange of knowledge and experience, enabling research to ultimately provide novel solutions for virtualized computing systems. The workshop features paper presentations, discussion sessions, and lightning talks. Accepted papers will be published in a Springer LNCS volume (indexed by Scopus and others). [apologies for cross-postings] The Workshop on Virtualization in High-Performance Cloud Computing (VHPC) <https://vhpc.org/> is an international forum bringing together researchers and industrial practitioners facing the challenges posed by virtualization in HPC/Cloud scenarios, in order to foster discussion, collaboration, mutual exchange of knowledge and experience, enabling research to ultimately provide novel solutions for virtualized computing systems of tomorrow. The 18th edition of VHPC will be held on May 25th, 2023, jointly with the ISC High-Performance 2023 <https://www.isc-hpc.com/> conference and exhibition in Hamburg (Germany), and it welcomes contributions on the research topics detailed below. Paper submissions are due on April 19th. Accepted papers will be published on Springer LNCS series, and indexed by Scopus, among others. Workshop Overview Containers and virtualization technologies constitute key enabling factors for flexible resource management in modern data centers, and particularly in cloud environments. Cloud providers need to seamlessly manage complex infrastructures, to support the highly dynamic and heterogeneous workloads customers deploy. Similarly, HPC environments have been increasingly adopting techniques that enable flexible management of vast computing and networking resources, close to marginal provisioning cost, which is unprecedented in the history of scientific and commercial computing. Various virtualization-containerization technologies contribute to the overall picture in different ways: machine virtualization, with its capability to enable consolidation of multiple underutilized servers with heterogeneous software and operating systems (OSes), and its capability to live-migrate a fully operating virtual machine (VM) with a very short downtime, enables novel and dynamic ways to manage physical servers; OS-level virtualization (i.e., containerization), with its capability to isolate multiple user-space environments and to allow for their coexistence within the same OS kernel, promises to provide many of the advantages of machine virtualization with high levels of responsiveness and performance; lastly, unikernels provide for many virtualization benefits with a minimized OS/library surface. I/O virtualization, in turn, allows physical network interfaces to exchange traffic with multiple VMs or containers; network virtualization, with its capability to create logical network overlays independently from the underlying physical topology, is another fundamental enabling technology for Cloud/HPC infrastructures. Last, storage virtualization needs to evolve to support increasingly demanding requirements in terms of performance and reliability for the managed application data. *Topics of Interest* The VHPC program committee solicits original, high-quality submissions related to virtualization across the entire software stack with a special focus on the intersection of HPC, containers-virtualization and cloud computing, focusing on the following major topics: * HPC on Containers and VMs; * Containerized applications with OS-level virtualization; * Lightweight applications with Unikernels; * HPC-as-a-Service. Cloud providers need to manage complex and heterogeneous infrastructures in a seamless fashion to support the highly dynamic and diverse workloads and applications customers deploy. Similarly, HPC environments have been increasingly adopting techniques that enable flexible management of vast computing and networking resources, close to marginal provisioning cost, which is unprecedented in the history of scientific and commercial computing. More recently, Function as a Service (Faas) and Serverless computing, leveraging on lightweight virtualizaton and containerization solutions, widens the spectrum of applications that can be deployed in a cloud environment, especially in an HPC context. Here, HPC-provided services can become accessible to distributed workloads outside of large cluster environments. Various virtualization-containerization technologies contribute to the overall picture in different ways: machine virtualization, with its capability to enable consolidation of multiple underutilized servers with heterogeneous software and operating systems (OSes), and its capability to live-migrate a fully operating virtual machine (VM) with a very short downtime, enables novel and dynamic ways to manage physical servers; OS-level virtualization (i.e., containerization), with its capability to isolate multiple user-space environments and to allow for their coexistence within the same OS kernel, promises to provide many of the advantages of machine virtualization with bare-metal responsiveness and performance; lastly, unikernels provide for many virtualization benefits with a minimized OS/library surface. I/O Virtualization in turn allows physical network interfaces to take traffic from multiple VMs or containers; network virtualization, with its capability to create logical network overlays that are independent of the underlying physical topology is furthermore enabling virtualization of HPC infrastructures. *Topics of Interest* The VHPC program committee solicits original, high-quality submissions related to virtualization across the entire software stack with a special focus on the intersection of HPC, containers-virtualization and cloud computing. Kindly guide me which mailining list is active and addresses the queries related to OpenStack S/W stack and advanced Infrastructure setup such as HA , Failover DC and DR site with OpenStack software components. VM fail over mechanism to Remote DR site

Members, I am using OpenStack Ussuri for our datacentre for virtualization requirements. we are using KVM hypervisor on Debian . We are in a requirement that our DR site is 200+ KMs apart from our office premises and connectivity over WAN. This DR site also going to deploy with Ussuri version. How we can setup the DR site so effectively so that, when VMs or Physical hosts in our DC clusters crashes or abruptly power to one physical machine got break due to electrical wire pulled out/unplugged , then how automatic failover to the DR site which is 300 miles away from our DC . what will be the solution for this setup so that automatically the VMs crashed in our DC will be served from our DR site with minimum latency or zero downtime (is zero down time possible ? kindly enlight on this or how to achieve near zero down time ) using OpenStack without any data loss ( is this possible no Data Loss ?). How ? Whats the best architecture for this using openstack, what all are the tools components need to be used ? and what type of solutions need to be deployed for the above requirement. VMs are nearly 100 nos and Linux and Windows majority of them with around 100 GB to 200 GB size for each VM. Kindly share your thoughts and expertise in this regard and enlighten me on what techniques / components of OpenStack need to be employed for achieving this. On the other hand, Quantum Computing is an advanced processing technique, that uses the fundamentals of quantum mechanics to accelerate the process of solving highly complex problems. The safety of all conference participants is our main priority. The Workshop fee is now 200 euros. ------------------------------------ WORKSHOP ON BIG DATA & DEEP LEARNING IN HIGH PERFORMANCE COMPUTING ------------------------------------ The number of very large data repositories (big data) is increasing in a rapid pace. Analysis of such repositories using the "traditional" sequential implementations of ML and emerging techniques, like deep learning, that model high-level abstractions in data by using multiple processing layers, requires expensive computational resources and long running times. Parallel or distributed computing are possible approaches that can make analysis of very large repositories and exploration of high-level representations feasible. Taking advantage of a parallel or a distributed execution of a ML/statistical system may: i) increase its speed; ii) learn hidden representations; iii) search a larger space and reach a better solution or; iv) increase the range of applications where it can be used (because it can process more data, for example). Parallel and distributed computing is therefore of high importance to extract knowledge from massive amounts of data and learn hidden representations. The workshop will be concerned with the exchange of experience among academics, researchers and the industry whose work in big data and deep learning require high performance computing to achieve goals. Participants will present recently developed algorithms/systems, on going work and applications taking advantage of such parallel or distributed environments. ------------------------------------ LIST OF TOPICS ------------------------------------ All novel data-intensive computing techniques, data storage and integration schemes, and algorithms for cutting-edge high performance computing architectures which targets Big Data and Deep Learning are of interest to the workshop. Summer School on Machine Learning and Big Data with Quantum Computing (SMBQ 2020) Porto, Portugal, September 7-8, 2020 ##################################### Machine Learning (ML) is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) branch, that focuses on developing algorithms to teach how computers learn from data to make decisions or predictions. Deep Learning (DL) is part of a broader family of ML algorithms, that is based on artificial neural networks. Arguably, DL techniques demand for big amounts of data and, as such, they require huge computational resources and advanced processing techniques. Cloud Computing is a well-known alternative to deal with big amounts of data, since its elasticity allows for an efficient scalability of huge computational resources, such as, data storage and processing power. On the other hand, Quantum Computing is an advanced processing technique, that uses the fundamentals of quantum mechanics to accelerate the process of solving highly complex problems. SMBQ 2020 addresses the current trends in AI and in the computational techniques that deal with big data demands, together with, a powerful processing technique that will shape the future of computation. During 2 days, from 7-8 September 2020, we will introduce concepts, discuss the current trends and provide direct practical experience in hands-on lessons. The Workshop fee is now 200 euros. ------------------------------------ WORKSHOP ON BIG DATA & DEEP LEARNING IN HIGH PERFORMANCE COMPUTING ------------------------------------ The number of very large data repositories (big data) is increasing in a rapid pace. Analysis of such repositories using the "traditional" sequential implementations of ML and emerging techniques, like deep learning, that model high-level abstractions in data by using multiple processing layers, requires expensive computational resources and long running times. Parallel or distributed computing are possible approaches that can make analysis of very large repositories and exploration of high-level representations feasible. Taking advantage of a parallel or a distributed execution of a ML/statistical system may: i) increase its speed; ii) learn hidden representations; iii) search a larger space and reach a better solution or; iv) increase the range of applications where it can be used (because it can process more data, for example). Parallel and distributed computing is therefore of high importance to extract knowledge from massive amounts of data and learn hidden representations. The workshop will be concerned with the exchange of experience among academics, researchers and the industry whose work in big data and deep learning require high performance computing to achieve goals. Participants will present recently developed algorithms/systems, on going work and applications taking advantage of such parallel or distributed environments. ------------------------------------ LIST OF TOPICS ------------------------------------ All novel data-intensive computing techniques, data storage and integration schemes, and algorithms for cutting-edge high performance computing architectures which targets Big Data and Deep Learning are of interest to the workshop. Analysis of such repositories using the "traditional" sequential implementations of ML and emerging techniques, like deep learning, that model high-level abstractions in data by using multiple processing layers, requires expensive computational resources and long running times. Parallel or distributed computing are possible approaches that can make analysis of very large repositories and exploration of high-level representations feasible. Taking advantage of a parallel or a distributed execution of a ML/statistical system may: i) increase its speed; ii) learn hidden representations; iii) search a larger space and reach a better solution or; iv) increase the range of applications where it can be used (because it can process more data, for example). Parallel and distributed computing is therefore of high importance to extract knowledge from massive amounts of data and learn hidden representations. The workshop will be concerned with the exchange of experience among academics, researchers and the industry whose work in big data and deep learning require high performance computing to achieve goals. Cloud providers need to manage complex infrastructures in a seamless fashion to support the highly dynamic and heterogeneous workloads and hosted applications customers deploy. Similarly, HPC environments have been increasingly adopting techniques that enable flexible management of vast computing and networking resources, close to marginal provisioning cost, which is unprecedented in the history of scientific and commercial computing. Most recently, Function as a Service (Faas) and Serverless computing, utilizing lightweight VMs-containers widens the spectrum of applications that can be deployed in a cloud environment, especially in an HPC context. Here, HPC-provided services can be become accessible to distributed workloads outside of large cluster environments. Various virtualization-containerization technologies contribute to the overall picture in different ways: machine virtualization, with its capability to enable consolidation of multiple underutilized servers with heterogeneous software and operating systems (OSes), and its capability to live-migrate a fully operating virtual machine (VM) with a very short downtime, enables novel and dynamic ways to manage physical servers; OS-level virtualization (i.e., containerization), with its capability to isolate multiple user-space environments and to allow for their coexistence within the same OS kernel, promises to provide many of the advantages of machine virtualization with high levels of responsiveness and performance; lastly, unikernels provide for many virtualization benefits with a minimized OS/library surface. Cloud providers need to manage complex infrastructures in a seamless fashion to support the highly dynamic and heterogeneous workloads and hosted applications customers deploy. Similarly, HPC environments have been increasingly adopting techniques that enable flexible management of vast computing and networking resources, close to marginal provisioning cost, which is unprecedented in the history of scientific and commercial computing. Various virtualization-containerization technologies contribute to the overall picture in different ways: machine virtualization, with its capability to enable consolidation of multiple underutilized servers with heterogeneous software and operating systems (OSes), and its capability to live-migrate a fully operating virtual machine (VM) with a very short downtime, enables novel and dynamic ways to manage physical servers; OS-level virtualization (i.e., containerization), with its capability to isolate multiple user-space environments and to allow for their coexistence within the same OS kernel, promises to provide many of the advantages of machine virtualization with high levels of responsiveness and performance; lastly, unikernels provide for many virtualization benefits with a minimized OS/library surface. Call for Events Federated Conference on Computer Science and Information Systems Leipzig, Germany, 1-4 September, 2019 www.fedcsis.org <http://www.fedcsis.org/> The 2019 Federated Conference on Computer Science and Information Systems cordially invites you to consider contributing an Event (conference, symposium, workshop, consortium meeting, project dissemination meeting, special session, etc.). The FedCSIS multi-conference consists of a significant number of recurring Events and it welcomes proposals for new Events until November 20, 2018. The Events can run over any span of time within the conference dates; from half-day to three days. Invitation is extended also to existing events that would like to join the vibrant FedCSIS ecosystem. The FedCSIS Events provide a platform for bringing together researchers, practitioners, and academia to present and discuss ideas, challenges, and potential solutions on established or emerging topics related to research and practice in computer science and information systems. The Events will be selected based on the scientific/technical interest and/or their relevance to practitioners in their topics, the clarity of the proposal in addressing the requested information, the innovativeness of the Event topics, and the fit with the FedCSIS multi-conference program. The FedCSIS 2018 – held in Poznań, Poland – attracted 349 papers, of which 74 were accepted as regular full papers (acceptance rate of approximately 21%). Some events accepted additionally regular short, position and communication papers. FedCSIS 2018 regular full and short papers are being submitted to the IEEE Xplore Digital Library, while position and communication papers have been published in a separate volumes of the Annals of Computer Science and Information systems series. Regular and short papers are submitted for indexation in Clarivate Web of Science (where they have been indexed since 2012), as well as to other indexing services, e.g. Scopus, DBLP, etc. Publications As in previous years, FedCSIS preprints will be published on a USB memory stick given to FedCSIS participants. *Only* papers presented during the conference will be submitted to the IEEE Xplore Digital Library (or will appear as position papers, published in a separate volume, which will not be submitted to the IEEE), and posted at the conference WWW site. Please note the formats for participation have recently been extended to include lightning talks and panel topic proposals or participation. Please let me know if you have ideas that would help with this workshop. Please also feel free to forward this to others you may know who might want to participate. We are aiming this event at those who actually operate, manage, or are interested in improving data center operations and tools. All topics related to data center provisioning, automation, infrastructure management (including energy efficiency and measurement) and data center analytics and control are in scope for this workshop to be held at Supercomputing 2018 in Dallas. The DAAC workshop series is focused on fostering discussion among industry, academic, and national laboratory participants and promoting collaboration on solutions for automated data centers and associated data center analytics and control issues. The objective is to promote and stimulate community's interactions to address some of most critical challenges in automation, analytics, and control specifically aimed for the needs of large-scale data centers in high-performance and other forms of highly scaled computing. * Submission Deadline: September 17, 2018 * Author Notification: October 1, 2018 * Camera-ready Submission: October 15, 2018 Manuscript submissions must be received by the announced submission deadline. All manuscripts will be reviewed by the Program Committee and evaluated on originality, relevance of the problem to the conference theme, technical strength, rigour in analysis, quality of results, and organization and clarity of presentation of the paper. heat resume Vms and run from SNAPSHOT: I have a stack of VMs (nova servers). The commands i execute are the following: openstack stack create openstack stack suspend openstack stack snapshot create At this point stack_state is in status SNAPSHOT_COMPLETED and vms_state is in status SUSPENDED How can i resume stack, with VMs be active and in Running state, LAUNCING the SNAPSHOTTED image. I can't resume the stack, because the VMs are in SNAPSHOTTED state. How Heat deals with it? How can you resume a stack with status SNAPSHOT_COMPLETED and VMs suspended to vm_state = unning for all the VMs of the stack

Scenario: -DomainA (TenantA, TenantB) -TenantA(userA) -TenantB(userB) - A template which start OS:NOVA:SERVERS 1. Is it possible two run simultaneously the same openstack stack create command? 2. a. how can i specify that i want, in the first case, the VMs of the stack, beloging to TenantA and in the second case to TenantB b. for the OS::NOVA::SERVER as fas as i can see there is no such property to Distinguish project names c. I want to achieve something like this openstack stack create "mystack" for TenantA openstack stack create "mystack" for TenantB openstack server list for TenantA VM1 RUNNING VM2 RUNNING .... openstack server list for TenantB VM1 RUNNING VM2 RUNNING .... So THE SAME VMs for both Tenants! 3. In the end, how is multi-tenancy achieved? So far, I have achieved it, by having two different stack names, tenantA and tenantB correspondingly, which take as input the same template, with the same parameters.

Various virtualization technologies contribute to the overall picture in different ways: machine virtualization, with its capability to enable consolidation of multiple underutilized servers with heterogeneous software and operating systems (OSes), and its capability to live-migrate a fully operating virtual machine (VM) with a very short downtime, enables novel and dynamic ways to manage physical servers; OS-level virtualization (i.e., containerization), with its capability to isolate multiple user-space environments and to allow for their coexistence within the same OS kernel, promises to provide many of the advantages of machine virtualization with high levels of responsiveness and performance; I/O Virtualization allows physical NICs/HBAs to take traffic from multiple VMs or containers; network virtualization, with its capability to create logical network overlays that are independent of the underlying physical topology and IP addressing, provides the fundamental ground on top of which evolved network services can be realized with an unprecedented level of dynamicity and flexibility; the increasingly adopted paradigm of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) promises to extend this flexibility to the control and data planes of network paths. Cloud providers need to manage complex infrastructures in a seamless fashion to support the highly dynamic and heterogeneous workloads and hosted applications customers deploy. Similarly, HPC environments have been increasingly adopting techniques that enable flexible management of vast computing and networking resources, close to marginal provisioning cost, which is unprecedented in the history of scientific and commercial computing. Various virtualization technologies contribute to the overall picture in different ways: machine virtualization, with its capability to enable consolidation of multiple underutilized servers with heterogeneous software and operating systems (OSes), and its capability to live-migrate a fully operating virtual machine (VM) with a very short downtime, enables novel and dynamic ways to manage physical servers; OS-level virtualization (i.e., containerization), with its capability to isolate multiple user-space environments and to allow for their coexistence within the same OS kernel, promises to provide many of the advantages of machine virtualization with high levels of responsiveness and performance; I/O Virtualization allows physical NICs/HBAs to take traffic from multiple VMs or containers; network virtualization, with its capability to create logical network overlays that are independent of the underlying physical topology and IP addressing, provides the fundamental ground on top of which evolved network services can be realized with an unprecedented level of dynamicity and flexibility; the increasingly adopted paradigm of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) promises to extend this flexibility to the control and data planes of network paths. Publication Accepted papers will be published in a Springer LNCS proceedings volume. The workshop will be one day in length, composed of 20 min paper presentations, each followed by 10 min discussion sections, plus lightning talks that are limited to 5 minutes. Call for Dissemination Events Federated Conference on Computer Science and Information Systems Prague, Czech Republic, 3-6 September, 2017 www.fedcsis.org The 2017 Federated Conference on Computer Science and Information Systems cordially invites you to consider contributing a “Dissemination Event.” A number of grant mechanisms (in particular, EU / NATO-funded research / coordination actions) involve dissemination of results in the form of workshops, symposia, etc. Since the FedCSIS multi-conference consists of a significant number of events related to various areas of ICT, it is a natural place for organization of grant-related events. Proposals for new Dissemination Events are going to be accepted until January 10, 2017. The Events can run over any span of time within the conference dates; from half-day to four days. Publications Dissemination Events are offered an opportunity to publish an individual volume in the Annals of Computer Science and Information Systems (ACSIS) series (http://annals-csis.org/) Publication will have ISBN, ISSN and DOI numbers and will be submitted to citation indexing engines (including SCOPUS, DBLP and Google Scholar). Maximum length of individual contributions to be included in such volume will be established between event organizers and Chairs of the FedCSIS conference series. Dissemination Event Proposals Dissemination event proposals should include the following information (2 pages maximum): 1. Call for Events Federated Conference on Computer Science and Information Systems Prague, Czech Republic, 4-7 September, 2017 www.fedcsis.org The 2017 Federated Conference on Computer Science and Information Systems cordially invites you to consider contributing an Event (conference, symposium, workshop, consortium meeting, research dissemination meeting, special session). The FedCSIS multi-conference consists of a significant number of recurring Events and it welcomes proposals for new Events until November 2, 2016. The Events can run over any span of time within the conference dates; from half-day to three days. The FedCSIS Events provide a platform for bringing together researchers, practitioners, and academia to present and discuss ideas, challenges, and potential solutions on established or emerging topics related to research and practice in computer science and information systems. The Events will be selected based on the scientific/technical interest and/or their relevance to practitioners in their topics, the clarity of the proposal in addressing the requested information, the innovativeness of the Event topics, and the fit with the FedCSIS multi-conference program. The FedCSIS 2016 - held in Gdańsk, Poland – attracted 512 papers, of which 130 were accepted as full papers (acceptance rate of approximately 25%). Some events accepted additionally short and position papers. FedCSIS 2014 full and short papers are being submitted to the IEEE Xplore Digital Library, while position papers are being published in a separate volume of the Annals of Computer Science and Information systems series (publication process will be completed by October 30, 2016). Publications As in previous years, FedCSIS preprints will be published on a USB memory stick given to FedCSIS participants. Only papers presented during the conference will be submitted to the IEEE Xplore Digital Library (or will appear as position papers, published in a separate volume, which will not be submitted to the IEEE), and posted at the conference WWW site. The IEEE DL proceedings will be published with an ISBN, ISSN, IEEE Catalog and DOI numbers, under a nonexclusive copyright. Such copyright implies that Events' organizers can and, indeed, are strongly encouraged to invite extended and revised papers for post-conference publications in high-quality journals, edited volumes, etc. Position Papers volume will be published with ISBN, ISSN and DOI numbers. Event Proposals Event proposals should include the following information (2 pages maximum): 1. The nature of the Event. 2.
