[cinder] Spec Freeze Exception Request
Hi, I would like to request a spec freeze exception for the new Cinder Quota System spec [1]. Analysis of the required spec changes needed to implement the second quota driver, as agreed in the PTG/mid-cycle, were non trivial. In the latest spec update I just pushed there are considerable changes: - General improvements to existing sections to increase readability. - Description of the additional driver and reasons why we decided to implement it. - Spell out through the entire spec the similarities and differences of both drivers. - Change in tracking of the reservations to accommodate the new driver. - Description on how switching from one driver to the other would work. - Updated the driver interface to accommodate the particularities of the new driver. - Updated the performance section with a very brief summary of the performance tests done with some code prototipe. - Updating the phases of the effort as well as the work items. Cheers, Gorka. [1]: https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/cinder-specs/+/819693
Thanks Gorka for spelling out all the changes made to the spec since the initial submission in yoga, would make the review experience quite better. The quota issues have indeed been a pain point for OpenStack operators for a long time and it's really crucial to fix them. I'm OK with granting this an FFE (+1) On Sat, Jul 2, 2022 at 12:31 AM Gorka Eguileor <geguileo@redhat.com> wrote:

Hi, Today is the last day for spec freeze exception but there were some unexpected circumstances because of which the review process was delayed. So we will be granting extra days to this spec since it doesn't require much revisions to be in a mergiable state. We will provide an additional extra week since we also have M-2 next week which has the new volume and target driver merge deadline so some of the review bandwidth will be shared there. In conclusion, granting this spec the new deadline to be merged by 15th July. Thanks and regards Rajat Dhasmana On Sat, Jul 2, 2022 at 10:35 AM Rajat Dhasmana <rdhasman@redhat.com> wrote:
